I've just recieved a tip that one of my site's competitor used Blackhat SEO to get to the top of Google. Is there any way to investigate to see if this was true? If I do find some evidence, how do I report it? Quick facts about the site: Alexa of 54,246. Very highly visited site.. Established around 9 months ago. Thanks!
Well you can check out the source code on the page, e.g. css , html code then if there is some dodgy practises you can report it to google. www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html
if you use black seo , you may get good results in a short time period but you can be sure that google will find you and you will be kissed by google
- wiki If it's cloaking or gateway pages then you can report that but don't report stuff like link exchanges.
Ask whoever gave you the tips what kind of BH methods they are using.. Wouldn't that be the easiest way? There are many kinds of BH, and Google doesn't know all of them! You just have to be one step ahead of them !
Are you posting to run up your postcount, or are you gonna come with a reason for why you can't use BH?
Well however told you that need to give you more details, what is blackhat about it? Link spamming? cloaking? etc otherwise you will have to look at everything yourself.
The most direct way is to view its source and see if there is any obvious keywords spamming. You may also want to post the url here
