Obviously most people had black hat sites because they clog up the search engines, but I've always thought there's something that can be learned from them. Take for example the case of the site etomoy.info . This site shows very few backlinks, yet after less then a month it has already got 15,000 listings in google. All my white hat sites don't compare to this. How did this site get so many listings? I see vitually no backlinks and and I don't see the site as having spammed guestbooks or webstat pages.
If you go to www.etomoy.info you see a different page that if you go to etomoy.com That directory is where this page is listed and getting so many links. Hopefully, search engines will learn someday to differentiate between good and bad links
Could you clarify....if I do a search on google for www.etomoy.info, there are no pages indexed in google. If I do a search for etomoy.info, there are 15,700 pages indexed. I'm wondering how he got 15,700 pages indexed in less then a month with virtuall no baccklins?
I think etomoy.info has two pages setup through DNS configuration. One is www.etomoy.info, which eventually will have some content, and etomoy.com. In this one, they setup a big directory wich must be distributed in hundreds of domains which only contain the same directory, creating all the links and pages. It's a scam if I ever saw one.
Ummmm, when I do a whois on godaddy, it shows that etomoy.com is not registered "ETOMOY.COM is currently unregistered!" A search on google for "etomoy.com" shows Your search - "etomoy.com" - did not match any documents So what value would there be to setup a dns for etomoy.com as there is nothing on the net for it?
This person is Blogging & Pinging and also spamming peoples guestbooks. A common Blackhat technique. If you type "etomoy" into google you can see there's some 17,000 pages that contain that particular term. I've not looked to far but the first page is at least filled with Guestbook Spam & Links back to the site. I guess the site is relying on backlinks & its sitemap, it could also be one of those sites that "grows over time" Google loves those. Hope this answers your questions a bit!
Like someone said in a post, we can all learn from these spam sites The sites that do all this so called black hat seo they are really popular in Googles spam index while a site that haven't been using any kind of seo or used white hat seo are being removed. Maybe these guys report every site that they don't like to Google and then "correct" their algo after that? Nahhh... they can't be THAT supid, can they? What I have been seeing for the last 3-4 months (after BUG Daddy) is that tons of spam sites has made it into Googles spam index while we here at DP are complaining about our sites. Seems like Google has made a 180 degree turn and lost their steering wheel and can't get back! If I was Google, I'd throw my algo out and start all over. No backlink crap, no PR ranking, just plain SQL queries. They shouldn't use the title in the Query and 3-5 words phrases from the META Tags. That's all they need!
Google's overzealousness has hurt its index and image. Although no fan of Gates for better searches I will always start from MSN. Results most of the time are more relevant and do not consist of a million e-bay listings, spam or short blog entries!
It's working for them now, though it won't forever. Google does penalise people that spam guestbooks, so it's no long term solution and certainly not somthing that I'd risk.
