Black & White printer....suggestions?

I am looking for a black & white only printer. Currently I have a HP Officejet J4540 and i'm printing a lot of pages each day for invoices and labels for my business. I am going through ink like crazy. I need a printer that uses only black ink and is lasting for a long time. Any suggestions?

Next time, buy a laser printer. It is more reliable and the toner is cheaper than ink if you are printing a lot.

Get an old dot matrix, they sound like the smoke monster from Lost. :)

Go with a laser printer. You could actually just print everything in black/white and get cheap refill cartridges.

    I personally use a Lexmark Z1300 printer.

    Pros
    1. Prints quickly
    2. Lasts a long time, due to its simplicity (it JUST prints) - mine's lasted me about 5, 6 years now.
    3. Its ink is pretty easy to get on ebay, for a pretty good price (I got a cartridge for $8 awhile back, and it's done a good amount of printing)
    4. Doesn't require software, because it's "old." (I find it hard to call something under 10 old, as I am substantially older than 10 and am decidedly NOT old)

    Cons
    1. Needs to be carefully fed, or it'll jam
    2. Gives you an annoying warning message if there isn't a color cartridge installed. You don't have to use it, but the machine freaks if it isn't there.

Overall, it's not a bad way to spend about $150. And you might find it on the cheap on a discount site like ebay - it's got some years behind it.

Get laser printer, but i suggest HP, Canon or Xerox. They are made of better parts and have longer life.
