Bizarre Ranking Behavior - Bounces to front page upon new content?

I've got an SEO test site which has ranked on the first page, but recently dropped back to about 20th position due to unknown reasons. The site is a PR1, has about 4,500 backlinks, and is about 10 months old.

The site is running on Wordpress and is updated frequently with fresh, hand-written content related to its niche.

The weird thing is, the site bounces onto the first page to position 5-6 every time a new post is made, and Google reports the update next to the URL (I'm sure most of you have seen this) ie: www.mysite.com - 42 minutes ago - cached - similar

About 8 hours after the new post is made, the site drops again to about the 20th position.

I have verified that this is in fact happening, and is not a result of my own browser's cache, I have hopped to several off-site locations, run the site through rank checkers, etc and this is in fact occuring.

Has anyone else ever seen something like this?

This problem is happening for most websites. No one knows the reason but almost all websites are in top results some hours after indexing but after 1-2 days, they will be dropped to lower positions. I think tis Google's algorithm and no one can solve it. So don't be worry AT ALL.
Just try to submit your new, unique articles to some of dofollow social bookmarking websites to keep its ranking on search engines.
Wait for my list of dofollow social bookmarks in next weeks.
