Here's a bizarre image someone e-mailed me the other day: Take a look at the colour of the squares A and B. Now watch this video - http://www.metacafe.com/watch/925105/lightness_illusion/ This one is really brilliant. It amazes me every time.
Tell me about it. I've seen this a dozen times and I still can't get it. I guess it's a characteristic humans developed because it's more useful to recognize patterns than the shade or the colour of a specific object. Or something like that... (I read it somewhere)
weird... i think they're truly the same color.. but you think they're different coz one is in the shade..
This one is really amazing! I've cut and paste both blocks and they are really of the same color. Nice illusion
For those who are a little bit skeptical, here's a link to the explanation of that phenomenon http://web.mit.edu/persci/people/adelson/checkershadow_illusion.html Hope it helps to understand it.
Bizarre indeed. Here's the comparison in Photoshop. Though technically they're both a different color, the discrepancy is almost unnoticeable. Great work.
