Bittorent/Rapidshare Links , Legal Or Illegal!?

Hello

Yes i know warez is illegal, but are torrents? Since your not hosting the file itself, just the means to get the file from another person computer!

And what about rapidshare, same thing your just posting links not the actual file!

please give me some legal advice, im looking to open my own bittorent site!

They both are illegal, anything that has anything to do with warez or cracks is illegal. Rapidshare can't get sued or anything liek that because they delete anything they find dats illegal.

 

In my opinion, what is illegal is hosting/sharing/uploading stuff that has copyright, not the way your hosting it (Like rapidshare or torrents).

Just my two cents...

you may not be hosting it, but you are 'sharing' it, which is illegal.

 

Totally agree to the top poster, you may not be hosting it. but you are helping it distribute hence making it warez or illegal.

 

I have never got how torrents get nothing to blame for.

 

Lets say we make torrents illegal then... because criminals are using it to spread stolen content.

Then do we also have to stop producing everything else used by criminals ? Like, computers, guns, software, etc ?

There are many legitimate uses for torrents, such as, open source software, music (artists whose labels don't belong to the RIAA), political, and online gaming.

 

This is what i will do i have decided, i will host torrents, and if i get any crap by any companies i will just take it down to prevent any hassle.. And if it gets re uploaded, i will take it down if i get another letter lol

 

Think of tvlinks. They weren't hosting anything, just linking to it and they got into very big trouble for it..

 

Well im going to link to the website that links to it.

So lets say person goes to blahblah.com then searches call of duty 4, i will have a whole wack of links that are LINKING to the site that is hosting the links, i could give a site that does it, but might be against DP ToS

 

so you are saying that you care less about right and wrong, and the only thing you care about is if you can get away with something

Warez linking is apparently legal due to freedom of speech, as long as it isnt on your server
However, the person who owned tv-links.co.uk was simply linking and got raided for it!

 

So it is actually make a website containing rapidshare links and stuff right?

legal? Coz they DONT host anything....they and their users just post content which might/might not be illegal (but mostly is..)...but hey...like i said...not hosting anything illegal.

Yea its like a grey area Win Z, and i wanna make sure before i do it, and i live in canada so less rules here then USA And parasite, he maybe lived in USA, where they are so dam corrupt they will bypass the law book somehow and make it look illegal.
