Hi All Im a little confused on how to set this up, its hurting my head so i have turned to you guys for help. I have a website which users can sign up (username, email address etc). The website has a form for people to fill in each week. In hidden fields their username is stored and posted into the database along with their results. I now have a facebook application which does exactly the same, displays the form each week for users to complete. Heres the hard part.......How can set it up for the same person to use either method of filling out the form and for me to recognise it is the same person ? Some people will not use facebook and some people will only use facebook. If one person only uses the site, and then joins the facebook application, how can i know its the same person. Hope someone has an idea coz its really hurting my head. Regards Alex
If both the application and your website use the same database, either make the email address field unique (which will simply ignore or error out on duplicates) or do a simple lookup in the database to see if the email address exists before continuing.
yeah i was thinking about using email addresses, but even my account alone has two email adressess attached to it.
