Ive got this site that needs to rank for "Steel buildings" its currently around the 800 mark in SERPS, this week ive submitted it to lots of free directory's and got it included in Dmoz. The problem ive got is that obviously because its a business website the owner doesnt want to have a links page as this would involve having competitors on there site. What type of links can you recommend that will help with this ? ive gone through a couple of the top 10 for this search term a had a look at what links they have but no one seems to want to link with out a link back (not evan a 3 way link) Ive started asking a couple of construction blogs and awaiting there reply. Its a friends website and business who doesn't want to pay for any pro SEO so i said id give it a crack. When i started submitting to free directory's a week or two ago he wasnt listed at all in serps for any keywords so im guessing that it shouldn't take a hell of alot to get on the first couple of pages at least, but i think i need some good related links, am i on the right track ? the site is oz-uk.com
800 mark ... that's on the 80th page of the SE. Pls don't misunderstand me. I'm not referring to the absolute ranking but how do you track you're on the 800 mark? By clicking next for 79 times?
Would they be willing or able to write an FAQ, articles, or other content? If so, that could generate some backlinks over time and be considered valuable to the search engines. Perhaps there are construction Associations or engineering groups that would link to you. Also, they may accept sponsorships. You could also try something like Text-link-ads.com for some links and related content. Another option might be a paid per post service to blog about it. Finding engineers, construction folks that have blogs to get links or posts may work too.
lol yes i know thats the 80th well 79th page in this case lol, i just set google.co.uk preferences to list 100 on each page the typed the URL into the find bar in Firefox, so it only took me 7 clicks to find it see http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=steel+buildings&num=100&hl=en&start=600&sa=N
