Bit.ly question ???

I really dont know whwre to put this question so I guess this might be the best place. Mods move it if you have to.

Basically, My bit.ly links say that today, my link has recived almost 2500 visit from one of the banners I am promoting on my site but when i check my website stats there is only 971 visits from that link???

This has been happening for a few days now.

Any ideas??? Is bit.ly reporting false clicks ???

 

I've never seen 2 reporting systems give the same results, as they all take data slightly differently and record different things- you need to read exactly what each system is counting and how.

 

I think maybe you received 2 or even 3 visits from the same person.

 

are u newbie to bit.ly or similary system?maybe I think the 2500 is the total pages that the visitors browses,971 visitor,every visitor browses 2 or 3 pages of your site

 

I don't know remember if it was bit.ly in particular, but I've seen some URL shorteners count total clicks to that page from any shortened URL.

 

There is a major problem there. The difference is to high.

for one of my sites its getting 35,000+ hits every 30 days and this is what bit.ly says http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/3398/clicks.jpg

 

Maybe it fails to redirect sometimes
