"Why", you might be asking, the aged Senator Simpson is doing the lasso? He and other like minded citizens who are sick of our leaders in Washington doing nothing about our 16 trillion dollar debt have started a website and a petition to Washington, asking that they put politics aside and cut spending. Our President is more than happy to let our economy slip back into recession for political reasons, thinking he can raise taxes without making any cuts to government once the average Joe's taxes go up. In consideration of the fact that serious cuts to the size of our government are anathema to him, this petition seems about as futile as pissing on a forest fire, but I'll throw effort at anything that has a remote shot of bringing attention to the issue.
