Hey guys, I just recently reset my thinkpad to its original settings except now a password prompt pops up and i have no idea what the password is. The laptop is a x200 thinkpad, heres what i'v done so far... So far I took out the CMOS battery and left it out for over 10 minutes. I took apart the ENTIRE machine in search for BIOS jumpers; didn't find any. Of course I tried holding down the power button while the battery was removed for over 30 seconds. At one point, (I found a small switch on the side of the motherboard and switched it, don't know if that was a jumper or just wireless controls) when the laptop was in pieces I tried powering it on with just the motherboard, keyboard, and LCD connected the result was a blank screen, 1 long beep, 3 short beeps followed by 3 more short beeps and a long beep. After the beeps I waited and for some reason the POST showed, the password prompt was gone apparently. So, i reassembled some stuff thinking that I accomplished my task; tried to power it on again, no beeps just the POST showed but the damn password prompt appeared again. So, I figured when the password did not show it had something to do with the switch I flipped ( I did not switch it back to its original location) Anyways, I'm posting here because I need more ideas. I'v been searching all over the net for fixes, I tried all the default BIOS passwords i could find on the net. The weird thing about it is that when I power it on now it says a error about date and time settings being wrong, than it says default bios settings will be used and after that the password prompt appears. Yeah, so if you guys have any suggestions I would be quite grateful, somebody suggested that I leave the CMOS battery out for 20 + minutes, so I'm doing that right now; see what happens. I'll post here if i find a way to reset the password.
