BIOS BUG 8254 timer not connected

    Hi,

    I have a HCL laptop bought from a friend loaded with XP.
    I have installed windows 7 evaluation copy and as is not running smothly, I hav removed and trying to install Ubuntu 9.04 desktop.

    Now, problem is when trying to install Ubuntu I am getting error of BIOS BUG 8254 timer not connected and any OS is not getting installed. Not even XP, 98 or Windows 7.

    Any clue of solving this issue?

    Please help.

    HCL P28 PDC
    1 GB RAM
