First off this is my first time at DP, and my first post.So hello there everybody. Now to the point. Lately I've seen quite a few reputable people on other IM/Tech forums and the like, saying they're preferring Bing over Google. Something I thought I'd never hear, and frankly I thought Bing would be a bust. So my question is this; what's so great about Bing, and what does it have that Google doesn't? I've tried using it before, and still think Google delivers me better results. Any opinions/facts are appreciated.
Well, I personally wish we could all switch to Bing, because my old sites still rank really well there. Many sites which I own that have really great content are nowhere to be found on Google, but are on pg1 in Bing. I know it's because I used a lot of link building strategies which Google no longer likes.
I have been advertising in Google for several years, but switched all my account to Bing when Adwords became so expensive. You can get a very good ROI with Bing if you know what you're doing.
Google adwords has become very expensive and restrictive. One thing I like about bing ads is for affiliate marketers they allow direct linking. So you don't need your own website. You can direct link to the merchants product with your affiliate link and they are sooooo much cheaper
I ran into a few problems with Google (see my post 'I Can't Believe They Did This') and have since switched to Bing. My ads are showing up on page 1 and I am getting good traffic. Bing is a lot more lenient in the 'rules' department and it is therefore a lot easier to carry on a campaign without the fear of getting slapped.
Bing has nothing special than Google. Google is famous and it ppc has higher rate than all other competitors. Bing is the second best competitor in the market and you can get quite low rate then google which is the most attractive part of Bing for many peoples. But remember: that higher rate of google can give you more fast response than others.
great if "faster response" also goes with "more conversion". but is no longer the case nowadays since CPC in google ads has become very expensive.
I imagine it's partly down to Bing's growing market share? As it grows in user numbers and market share, it's attractiveness to advertisers increases but this will lag as people wait for it to become more established - allowing you to get cheaper and better results for a period. I've personally found myself using Bing more and more for searches as it keeps improving, and partly down to my new Windows Phone and Windows 8 tablet - and I'm someone that used to be 100% Google and has been for years. You'll also want to consider geography - Bing has a decent share in the USA, but in Europe it's still absolutely tiny.
Most of my obvious affiliate-sites which exist for years still rank very well in bing, while google started hating on them with one of it's last dances.
Well I don't know what makes bing better but from personal experience I get better conversions from bing on my sales and opt in pages
They look 10 times worse though. There is nothing that Bing has that Google does not. The reason you probably see people say they prefer Bing over Google is purely because they utilize techniques that get them penalized in Google, and obviously not Bing.
We started using AdCenter several months ago. The way I see it goes like this: AdWords brings in one type of customers. AdCenter brings in a slightly different type of customers. In our estimate, AdCenter traffic converts into sales faster. I have no logical explanation to that, except, I think people coming to our site from Bing are trusting Bing searches religiously and are ready to take action the moment they find what they've been looking for.
I'm starting to hear some good things about Bing. All that has to happen is advertisers get priced out of Google, and Bing/Yahoo will start to eat into Googles share. I'm certainly looking into Bing, if the ROI is reasonable it's worth a shot.
