When will Microsoft's Bing take over Yahoo's search functions? Are there any rumors or official deadlines?

There is no official word or deadline on the merger but I guess the integration process would already be ON, in the back office! :)

Bing also shows Yahoo ads on their search. Now the deal has been done.

The deal is official, but there are some legal issues that have to be dealt with before the change in the results can actually take effect. Nobody knows the exact date when it will switch over. However, you might see some integration with advertisements in the meantime.

If you search for a simple word like "large" in both Yahoo and Bing, you will see a difference in the results and their order.

I will be glad when they do ... yahoo.bot uses far too much bandwidth for the number of visits it sends and i assume when they start to show results from bing then yahoo.bot will go and just have to deal with msn.bot

You can change how often the yahoo bot visits with your sitemap, assuming you use one.
