Bing results not working

Discussion in 'Keyword Tracker' started by benjamieson, Oct 14, 2009.

    Hi all,

Anyone having any luck with getting the tracker to show results form Bing?

Mine are all showing N/A, which a quick search shows to be wrong.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

    Ben

Do you have an example? Gimme a keyword/URL combo (exactly as entered in the Keyword Tracker) that you think is wrong and I'll have a look for you.

    thanks man,

    OK, the following:

bahamas wedding photographer in Bing shows my site (http://www.benjamiesonphotography.com) at #4.

The tracker just states N/A for this and all other terms.

Also, the login has been broken in Safari for a year. You can log in, but clicking anything (a keyword, refresh all, add keyword, etc) takes you right back to the "Hi, would you like to log in" page.

    Very frustrating!

Having said all that - well done and keep up the amazing work for all us whining and oftentimes annoying users!

Hmmm... your example works fine for me... shows as #4 in Bing within the keyword tracker. You sure that's exactly how you entered it within the keyword tracker?

Yep, I'm sure - unless I'm missing something fairly obvious:

Have you tried kick-starting the script so it starts from the top? FAQ #24

Can't do that till I can get to something other than Safari due to the login bug in the kwt code, but #24 doesn't apply, as these are fresh keywords added for Bing, not stale data from 'before' (there was no Bing before)

It will always start from the top if it's N/A, so that wouldn't be it... I'm really not sure though. Maybe Bing is giving different results to the IP address you have the script on or something?

Try looking one up manually (by clicking it) with the "Show Surrounding URLs On Manual Query" option enabled. Does it show anything?

Can't do that yet - need to launch Firepig, um, I mean 'fox' to be able to login.

    Will try later.

    Ben

PS: I'm hosting the script on my Network Solutions hosting account - is it possibly the issue (ip query limits?)

I don't think Bing imposes query limits, but it might be Bing just completely blocked the IPs due to some other issues (spam bots maybe?).

Also... I'm trying to figure out WTF is up with Safari still. No idea why it's doing what it's doing. Kinda annoying me right now.

I'll leave it til tomorrow, and see what happens.
If you need any assistance/testing/second eyes on login routines, just holler/PM/email me. Its what I do all day (when I'm not taking photos!)

Seems like Microsoft might just be blocking the IP you are running it on.

On a side note, it seems Safari is working okay now for authentication.
