24 hours ago I would have laughed at you but now I not so sure....

.For the last seven years or so I have used Google for almost every internet search I have done. But then last night I used bing for the first time. Alll I will say is watch out Google you've got serious competition, and if I held shares in the company I would be selling them.

The reason for my sudden change in attitude is from two searches I did last night. I was dissatisfied with google"s results for a search term in the news "All Blacks" I wanted to get the news on an international match they had played 12hrs before. Despite there being probably being about a hundred post match news stories about the game, from some of the most prestigious news websites in the world, all Google served up to me was old stale pre-match "news". So begrudgingly I gave Bing a go. It gave me exactly what I wanted, scores, post-match analysis.

Then bing beat google again for a second search. Last night. I couldn't connect to my domain name registrar Dynadot and I wanted to find out if the site was down, and why. Google failed again while Bing delivered a couple of relevant results for the same search terms.

    Cheers Don

    Cheers Don

Then last night I was unable to connect to my domain registar and searched for "Dynadot down" via news and blogs. GGoogle failed

Now. Let's follow the intelligence of this guy.
3 weeks ago, Google shot up $60 in one day to an all time high of $630. That's almost 3x more value in one day than the price of Microsoft stock (a measly $24) but you say sell.
He throws 7 years of satisfaction away based on two searches.
And horrible search terms at that. "All blacks" is also a dress code, Bing obviously was more geared toward serving up current news events rather than appropriate search terms. Google's results, as of right now, has the full first page about this sports team which makes me question his search. In any case, relevent search results are more important than current events. One who wanted to understand the dress code would be sorely disappointed with Bing's results.

That's highly unlikely. Google is buying up more companies. As Microsoft focuses more on search and Bing, Google is taking over the block and focusing outside of relying on ads by search results.

well i don't think Bing will be the leading search engine. 50% of the market hardly use Bing for more than a day .

    ALl love Google !

Yahoo was not the same as Google. Yahoo was more of a portal than a search engine and its engine was not as good as Google's.

Yes nothing is impossible but Google just like Microsoft in OS market dominates search market. Unlike Yahoo , Google is innovating and improving search results like every month. Unless Google makes a huge blunder, it is not possible for Bing to pass the market share of Google. Personally I don't think Google can make such a huge mistake.
