In regards to the recent press conference where Microsoft announced that its Bing search engine will become more integrated with Facebook, I wondered how we publishers can leverage this to our advantage. To summarize, Bing will now use your Facebook friends to determine relevancy and to display results more prominently. So for example, your website could rank at #1 on Bing's search results simply by having lots of people "liking" it. But keep in mind that these results are personal, not global. That is, your website's ranking on Bing will vary on the visitor's Facebook friends. Also, Bing will make this feature optional, where each user can turn this on or off. So obviously, we publishers will want to add Like buttons on our websites. And we'll want to promote our content on Facebook, and personally click the Like button on everything we post. I imagine bloggers will beg their readers to click the Like button. What else can we do to increase the number of Likes? I published an article about this on my blog: http://www.inyourweb.com/2010/10/optimizing-bingfacebook-integration.html
