That's because once Bing is on your computer you can't get rid of it unless you're a super geek! I just hate it when a program takes over my system without my knowledge or permission.

I think Google is always in no. one, Bing or even other search engine will never beat them.

drhowarddrfine: here's a news flash. Just because statcounter customers dont do well in Bing doesn't mean that is their actual search industry share. By your logic google is dropping as well and will be at 60% by spring next year. here's a shocker; maybe they dont rank well in bing cause they dont optimize for it?

get a life and tell us who you really are. you work for google i bet? my guess is you are a google homer attacking microsoft in an information campaign. just look at your recent posts: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?searchid=1605093

    hate on windows (check)
    hate on bing (check)
    hate on ie (check)

and that was just page one.

Now if you want to talk about results that shouldnt count in a search engine lets look at crappy exact match domains (google), or brand names that match a product search (try 'game trailers' in google).

Bing is a decent alternate and MS is tossing a lot of money its way to help it out. I would love to see Google at 60% and Bing at 30% just to keep google from killing the internet and keep innovation in search.

News flash: NO site does well in Bing on ANY statistics. Do you only follow this forum for your information?
If you knew how to use Google, you'd find I've been posting for over 10 years, long before I got into the web business. If you knew how to use Google, you'd find I've been knocking IE and Microsoft for the last six years. If you were really good, you could find out why I rage against that machine:

    1) Microsoft screwed my business six years ago costing me thousands of dollars.
    2) Internet Explorer is the worst browser on the planet. Known provable verifiable.
    3) Some people on this board rave about Bing for one reason only. It's from Microsoft so they think it must be good despite all the information and data that says it isn't. I'm the counter to those outrageous wonder claims.
And what would your posts show? Microsoft fan-ism? Some people want to get all their information from Microsoft's publicity department and ads. Others want the truth.
All of my clients rank number one in their category on Google, Bing and Yahoo. I don't need anyone to attempt to teach me how to rank in search engines.
They tossed a lot of money at Live Search, too, but that didn't get them anywhere. They've tossed hundreds of millions at Bing and it's increase is insignificant as are its search results.
It is Microsoft that is killing the internet! IE holds back the web! It's the least innovative product on the planet!! Google came out with Chrome and gives away the source code just so other companies can use it and move the web forward! You must be too young to know what things were like before Google came along. Google changed the whole landscape for the better and did it all for free. Microsoft held it back and charges you for the privilege.

I will take IE over google's net neutrality plan with verizon any day.

im glad you gloss over google's copying of bings homepage and infinity image display. Imitation is the sincerest form of flatery.

Sameer. I completely disagree. "never" or as you put it "no one can ever" is too strong. There are always ways to take down the leader in an industry. however, brand recognition on the internet has shown in the past to be a major motivator for mass usage. look at the ebay vs. overstock battle, barns and noble vs amazon, etc... in almost every segment there is a market leader. however, in only a few segments has the leader remained the same for so long (auctions, books, search) that's it. You can take for example myspace. They were so big that major blockbuster movies mentioned them and now look. A combination of better security and less spammers with cleaner pages lead the migration from myspace to facebook. Facebook continued to innovate their product and myspace lagged behind those innovations. This shifted the balance of power and put FB at the top of social media, but that's only been 2 and a half years now.

Will it be easy to topple google? no, no it will not. But the availability of alternates should NEVER be downgraded. Don't listen to naysayers like drhowarddrfine. We need innovation in search and we need a check against google before they become the next MS. If that means hoping that MS digs into their marketshare then so be it.

IMHO I want to go back to the days of several search engines. No one brand should run an industry.. or for that matter several industries.. the way that Google does currently and control the fate of the internet based on their whims.

    This is my opinion:

Bing's search results absolutely suck. Google's results are great. I would like for Bing's results to be more relevant and useful. I don't like the idea of having to rely on one search engine for 95% of my traffic.

If Bing wants to gain market share, they have to improve their algorithim. Period. If they want to compete with the big guys, they need to make sure they deliver good, quality results. I never use Bing for one reason: It takes me going through 10 pages of crappy results to find one relevant result. With Google, I can almost always find what I'm looking for within the first 7 results.

What does that have to do with search? Don't start bringing in off-topic news as some defense to your position.
Again, what does that have to do with search? Besides, all Bing did was put a background image on their main page and everybody ooh's and aah's like that makes it something.

Where was I naysaying? Or are you just making things up?
So you don't want Google to become like Microsoft but you hope Microsoft takes over? That makes sense to you somehow?
You mean like Microsoft controls the desktop? I agree. But Google has never been sued by the US Justice Department and put under Federal oversight for 10 years like Microsoft has. Nor has the European Union fined Google billions of dollars like Microsoft has and put restrictions on them like Microsoft. iow, you wouldn't want a convicted, illegally run corporation like Microsoft controlling the 'net and charging you for the privilege.

And btw, there are several other search engines out there besides Google and Bing and Yahoo.
