Hey gang - remember when we look at all of these stats they may be country specific and/or global. Bing may have 3% market share globally, but 12-15% in the US. Just the same as the person who mentioned Baidu. They may have 300,000,000 users, but globally most other countries do not use Baidu, so 3% market share globally is probably correct. Just an FYI.

I suspect the market share varies by niche. Bing is a huge source of traffic for some of my sites, but provides almost none for others. Interestingly, it seems to be the younger demographic that's using Bing, while sites aimed at older people still get almost exclusively Google.

Bing is definitely making a big push in the UK in terms of advertising, their adverts are on far more than Google. Also Universities and such have Bing as their default search engine, which is helping people here become more used to it. I still hate it as a search engine though.

And it hasn't made a dent as usage in the UK remains flat as shown in a previous post.

google will still be number one. however,
if you own a tech site or computer forum, you most likely receive traffic from bing since tech supports [callcenters] require them to use Bing to solve computer problems of their clients. even suggest thier clients to use bing

Bing still has quite a ways if it ever hopes to beat Google, but I sometimes use Bing more than Google because lately Google has been giving my crappy results.

He can't give any good ones. I noticed people who say that are wanting new and different examples rather than relevant ones. They complain when they enter the same search item and they get the same results while Bing gives a different one while not thinking that, perhaps, Google is giving the results of the sites most people reference while Bing does not.

Wow, I didn't know that you could speak for me without knowing me!

Anyhow, you are quite wrong about my situation. I don't remember all of the specific keywords I used to type in Google, but I do remember a lot of them being more relevant in Bing. I also do SEO and SEM professionally, so don't try and school me on Google because that is exactly my point...because most people focus SEO with Google I received a lot of crappy results on certain subjects and had to dig for the better ones or use Bing. In other words, the only reasons the better ones weren't on top was simply because they probably didn't know about SEO. However, in most cases, I still use Google more.

I'm interested to see how bing will fare once the TV advertisements stop. I mean, the TV ads are working but will it keep people coming back to it?

    I wasn't. It was a general observation.
See, this is opinion though you don't know what you entered but most of what you said is opinion. Google's page rank is based on what everyone links to on the assumption that if it wasn't relevant people wouldn't link to it. Certainly you can find other sites that are just as good but unknown. That is true of any research but my question would be, why didn't Bing give you what everyone else is linking to? That sounds like a miss and an example of poor search.

Bing has a lot more improved compared to their old MSN but still too far in weight compete toward Google. The most important of Google is branding assets while Bing is a known as a part of Microsoft, a leader software developer company and not a search engine oriented.

Bing can come across over Yahoo in a soon but not Google yet. The Facebook may have a much more chance to come over Google than current Bing in my opinion.

i agree with you.i saw this rise of bing statistics from past 3 months but present google will continue its position no.1.i think in future bing will give hard competition to major search engines.
