Bing has a lot of ground to cover before it can look to challenge google. Bing has to maintain the interest generated during its launch and it would certainly need a very good marketing team, definitely not the type that handles its OS segment!

I think bing will survive if he continus to :

    - send good amount of traffic for webmasters.
    - find amazing pictures to put in the frontpage.
    - care more about what internet users want and not to make more money ( even if everyone is looking for money ).
    - make local search in more languages and for many countries.

Oh no, google is a good guy with full reputation, they really got the image in everyone heart, who want to put the king down? The others want to have their cut, they have to got something call "revolution" in searching.

This is no surprise based on how much Microsoft markets this search engine. IMO, it will stay in no 2 for a while with Google still dominating the SE world!

cnn has a quick comparison showing bing gave a better search result relevant but finally conclude that it's a long way to catch up google in commercial coz brand of google is tremendous strong.

Is Bing a new hope to compete with google? I don't think so. Search results must fast, clear looking and useful. After using Bing for a few times, I found that Bing has been similar to Google, fast and clear looking and useful but not better.

Bing is going to kill off Google for sure, I have a good vibe about them. I didn't feel the same way with Cuil when it was touted as a "Google-killer" but with Bing, I will bet everything I own on it that it will kill off Google soon.

I do not know if it will or not but here in Florida they keep showing a Bing's commercial. Which tells me they are very serious. I also read an article in the Newsweek mag. and it seems like their #1 goal is to beat Google. I am not sure if it's the greatest goal to have. They just have to become who they are, not to try to beat someone in ratings.

Meh, Bing barely sends me any clicks while Google still dominates. Bing will fall down sooner or later.

I have recieved around 400 unique visitors from this search engine in the past few days, my website is an article website, i think itll fade and i agree with some of the above posts regarding it going through a phase where its popular, itll soon crash and burn.
