http://www.theglobeandmail.com/serv...obesports20070917091217/WBStory/WBglobesports “A high ranking NFL official told me that the Jets will very likely request an investigation by the league into the Patriots use of unassigned and uncoordinated radio frequencies during their game last week,†she said. “The crux of the claim is that there was a second camera stationed right next to the one shooting the Jets defensive coaches sending in their signals. This second camera may have been used to illegally record audio that is suspected to be Patriots defensive linemen wired up so as to capture the Jets audibles and offensive line calls. This would be another clear violation of NFL rules." ^^^ If this turns out to be the case he should be banned for life IMHO.
Someone with a lot of time on their hands and a collection of NFL game tapes needs to go back through the Pats games and see how likely it is that they've been cheating for a long time. It seems like they constantly call screens on plays when the opponent is blitzing. That's not some minor thing; that kind of knowledge would absolutely win ball games. The penalty handed down so far was not good enough. I realize the commish was reluctant to take away a win, but just one 1st round pick is not enough. They've been doing this for multiple seasons, including at least one championship season. I think they should lose a 1st round pick every year until they miss the playoffs.
ahaha ur being dumb if u dont think every NFL team does it..the pats just got caught..that beings said i hate them and think that because they got caught they should take away the win over the jets and suspend belicheck for four games. roger goddell needs to send the message that the nfl doesnt just crack down hard on players, but that everyone is accountable.
Totally unrelated but i think its great that you still have Madeleine mccan's picture on your dp, and a link in your sig spot! - ive left you rep!!!
oh c'mon. the OP is from San Diego and he starts this thread? the Chargers just lost to the Pats 38-14. my comment isn't unrelated. the Patriots got caught, lots of teams do it. lets review all the game tapes from all the teams and see whats what. New England doesn't need to cheat, i'm surprised they did. Go Patriots!!
I have always found it interesting that he was such a flop in Cleveland and somewhere between Cleveland and New England he managed to transfer himself into a coaching genius. Seems like all you need to be a genius is the ability to cheat and not get caught! I think this taints everything he has accomplished. -Gene
$500,000 personal fine, he can afford it Robert Kraft took a $250,000 hit plus future draft picks, thats a hefty penalty.
I personally would have opted for no fine and simply require the Patriots to forfeit the game to the Jets. If that had been the penalty I think this type of cheating would have been stomped out of the game altogether. -Gene
the jets beat the pats last year..theyre pretty screwed this year though..ill be honest about it..this year is a draft pick year for them
Almost everything in the NFL is with precision anyway. So regardless of whether they know the plays or not, they will still have to hold off the defensive linemen and try to throw over the corners. If you think Belicheck is the only one doing this you are probably kidding yourself. He just happened to have gotten caught.
PHP- I agree they still have to perform, and that others are doing things to get a competitive advantage, but knowing the coverage the defense is in is a huge advantage. That is the whole reason why QBs go to the line and try and figure out what they are looking at before the snap. I think it is curious how he wasn't any good with Cleveland and now he is a genius. I wonder how much of a coaching genius he will be once Brady is gone. I think Belicheck gets a lot of credit for Brady being one of the best QBs ever. Back to MNF. -Gene
Roger's rebuttal to *that was weak IMO...when asked about the differences between this offense and *Wade Wilson (QB coach of Dallas) he said the suspension in Wade's case was b/c he "broke the law". "Breaking the law" = bad ; (5 game suspension and 1/3-1/2 of years salary fined) Cheating = don't do it again ; (no suspension and 1/10th year's salary fined and yeah yeah the draft choice...they have 2 this year anyway!) hey do you think Bob Kraft can manage the $250K seeings how the Pats were valued at over $1.1 BILLION??
