    Now what I mean by this is NOT your favorite but who do you think will go down as the biggest band?

    Also some of the choices may be have begun in the 70s but they did not come to huge prominance until the 80s.

    My favourite is U2. They probably are the biggest as well, especially after the "Help the earth" concerts.

    If were measuring on a global scale that is, as they have new fans in Africa and the middle east.

    But Metallica is a close second. I love there music aswell.

    I dont know who has sold more records, metallica or U2, but I voted metallica I think they really influenced a ton of the bands that are coming out these days.

    Nirvana has my vote. The guy has been gone for ages yet they are still releasing DVD's, new behind the scene footage, and heck, his death certificate was sold on eBay for a ton of cash. The fans just will never quit following along..

    Metallica has sold more un the UNITED STATES...57 million ...while u2 has sold 52....but worldwide figures are always tampered with i believe...so i dont believe those figures as much. But wikipedia says metallica has sold around 100 million and u2 170 million...but that seems unlikely.
