This might be more of a public service than a question, but I'm open to suggestions as well. The mighty huge Bigcommerce, as they say one of the biggest in e-commerce world, does not have any multilingual capabilities??????????????????? How the hell is that even possible in 2016? And the worst part is, you can have a separate shop for for example French but the platform does not support any other alphabet? WHAT? Any one has any better idea than just Google translate?
bigcommerce is a privately held company thats why they get to choose their own direction of technology progress
Well that's correct but it does not have anything to do with having multilingual capabilities. Ignoring such huge market is not a wise choice, although strategically I understand that they might have put more energy on other areas but it is 2016 and with thousands of websites on their platform it is only logical to think or even imagine that at least 10% of those websites might want to go bi or multilingual.
I would frankly just go with woo and do something spectacular. Just need to stick it behind this https://wordpress.org/plugins/ninjafirewall/ N.
Go for Saas- usually they have this functionality and with multistore functionality you can offer special promotions for specific area or country. Usually they all share inventory so there is no way of overselling.
Yeah unfortunately it was built with Bigcommerce and now I regret it to be 100% frank. It is very limiting and the more I go forward the more frustrated I get. Like to create a form you can only use expensive 3rd party plugins for a lousy form if it is not contact form. Client cannot afford to shift so I gotta find another way.
Well. I would typically just deal with it if that is the case. If you can export products and such as anything at all I can hurl you a plugin and probably a theme as well. You can knock it out in about an hour. Even it its huge. https://support.bigcommerce.com/articles/Public/Exporting-Data it seems doable. I am happy to lend a quick hand if need be. Its pretty trivial stuff once you map things with this http://www.wpallimport.com/ I have the woo commerce addon and WPML as well. Nigel
You are not the only one with this situation. Now platform is like marriage- someone sold you a story about young, smart, flexible bride. Than you went for it, wedding was great, a bit expensive but you ware happy. With time being makes went off... wife is getting fat, spending rise, and all the time need some expensive doctor to fix her.... Better to go for Saas- pay as you go, you do not go you do not pay... I assume you need professional platform since you are facing re-platforming. Try to google my nick- it might help in case your system miss some functionality. One supplier who is is interested in your success. Why it is better to go for over-featured- I believe you just got to know....
