Big Spam Problem

    So i have this new wordpress blog...
    Its 3 days old and i have around 50 publications.
    So i get about 300 visits a day... and 40 comments(daily), 70% of the comments are spam. How can i protect myself against spam? And why in the first place i have so many spam on my blog?
    What i am doing wrong? I know a little big about seo and stuff so i have optimized my blog as much as i can...

    Install the Askimet plug-in. You'll never see those spammers again. You'll need an API key to use it, which means registering at wordpress.com if you haven't already. The API key also gets you blog stats, so you may as well set that up as well.

    Install Akismet , it gives almost 90% spam reduction .
    Put a CAPTCHA system for commenting as well..

    mine must have really hit the big time too :p, same problem.

    I have Askimet of course but I still have to delete the truckload of them!

    I was going to use reCAPTCHA but that thing is brutal!! I find it VERY VERY difficult to read that stupid thing!

    Not CAPTCHA per say just re-CAPTCHA version of CAPTCHA!!

    i am using reCAPTCHA and its not that bad to read, u have an option to refresh the image to get a new one.

    With askmet , I used to go through the message , but now its just del all, there are too many to go through...

    yep, I have to refresh several times @ times.
    I want something far less complicated, a box with 4 easy to read letters or something :)
