    Hi
I have a fairly big site with lots of static html pages.
I need to make life easy for myself by getting a decent CMS but I want to keep the pages with the same urls like mysite.com/cmshelp.html.

Anyone ideas what the best script/way to go about this.

    Cheers

With a question like yours, you will in DP always get the "Use Joomla" responses. In all honesty, you never get any details on how and what to use to do what you want, it just that Joomla is best and it is the solution to all your needs. The problem right now with Joomla is that the SEO mods they have both have flaws and some extensions will work with one and not the other - makes upgrading harder as well.

For your needs, You could use Drupal, thought it does have a large learning curve.

I would suggest you look at CMS Made Simple based on your needs. The thing is that you do not want to lose any SERPs/PR of your pages and also want to keep things simple as well. Here is a mini-tutorial from them which answers your question (and can be done on your deskptop/laptop if you want to test before you deply) - http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/How_to

There is a general move to use WordPress which is a blog software as a CMS and it would be doable to have SEO urls (same URL structure as you have currently) with the add-ons. Which ones, well the expert WordPress users here can answer that better than I. You can do a search here on DP for "Wordpress CMS' and get some good ideas on which mods to use as well.

Joomla is the way to go and there is nothing wrong with the SEO mods now

    simply search for sh404 component

then enter your content into the sections and catogires, connect them directly to the section, category, or content using a menu link.

configure sh404 to either show or not show the seciton name or category depedning on how our urls are set up

it really is super easy and you are able to add banners and adsense easily and in different position on any section, category or content iteam

No, JOOMLA is not a right choice if you are focusing on SEO. I have installed Joom SEF & SEF ADVANCE components for my joomla based site. Believe me they are really sucks.. These components may help you in indexing more pages in Google but your site pages never gets good rankings in google. ITS TRUE !!

Drupal is a best choice but it is a bit hard to build and customize the site with drupal.

One more best choice is use Article Live from interspire.. Your site pages will get very good rankings in Google & integrated adsense system.. means what all you need to do is just place your adsense Pub-id through admin panel.

If you are getting lots of traffic do not use Article Live.. I would suggest you to go with Drupal.

I Love JOOMLA.. very user friendly and easy to customize.. Lots of cool templates & components. Only one thing it is lacking is SEO.

You installed the wrong stuff bro

I have a template that puts content first, a fully accesssible tableless layout and only two components that make it perfect.

Drupal may be better out of the box but it is hell trying to figure out how to do it
