Hello DP members, I am so thankful to DP for providing me valuable customers. I am selling Google Adwords vouchers and they are selling good, thanks to you. I am a reputed seller here and all my customers can approve that I never cheat anyone. But yesterday I faced first scam in my business. I was giving my yahoo ID to DP members to discuss about the vouchers I was selling. Then someone came to my yahoo ( his yahoo id is matteastman@ymail.com Matt Eastman, Fake I am sure ) and asked me that he want to buy vouchers. I asked how do you know my yahoo ID, he said one of his friends on DP has referred him to me. I asked his friends name and DP username, he denied to tell. I asked his DP id , he told me canardsun which does not belong to him, now i believe. I did not checked the DP id and rushed to make a deal. He asked for 20 vouchers. I asked $30. He did not bargained at all. He took my paypal address and paid (without any note in paypal) I delivered him the coupons and he suddenly blocked me on yahoo. Then he redeemed all the coupons within 1 hours and I received an email from paypal that he has opened a dispute case. I am so sorry to myself for believing him. I have collected his details from the paypal address he used to pay me. But I am sure he do not use that paypal to trade on DP. His sole intention was to revert the payment and get the money as well as the coupons. I can not prove the delivery of coupons to Paypal. my yahoo chat history is not stored. Is there anything I can do ? His Paypal details are: Name:Alexander Stuckey Email: Seller Reputation: (0) Verified Buyers Account Status: Verified Account Type: US Premier Account Creation Date: 03-Oct-2002 PayPal Member For: 7 years 10 months 27 days If anyone on DP has done a transaction with this paypal in past, I request him to please tell me his DP username, we will have to stop him scamming other people on DP. If moderator can check the email address used to signup in DP or added as paypal email address. or if they can search this address in PMs. I am not sure is it possible or not. But if you can reveal his identity, a lot of people will be saved from being scammed. Do anyone have a serious suggestion to win the dispute in paypal, then he must please help me. $30 is not a small amout for me. Hope I can get my money back and save other being scammed.
You can easily close the dispute and keep the money if you call a PayPal customer service rep and tell them that it's a DIGITAL product and that you were scammed and that he can't file a dispute because it's not under the buyer protection plan.
Correct, Digital Items are not covered by Paypal unless that person is using a hacked Paypal account.
I heard that selling vouchers is illegal ? I am not sure because many reputed sellers sell them on ebay and paypal has full information of it. As you said Digital Items are not covered by Paypal unless that person is using a hacked Paypal account. I checked my dispute and it is actually Unauthorized payment dispute and not a Product not received type. I think the scammer it very intelligent (and experienced too, his paypal account is dated 2002 ) @moderators. Please move this thread to paypal forum. I wrongly posted here, because I wanted help from people selling vouchers.
Explain that to Paypal. See what happens first. I don't think the person can get away by reporting a false unauthorized payment report.
Tell PayPal he scammed you. Show them the receipt and it will be fine. Many people do this, however they don't get away with it... DO NOT close the dispute, because this means he wins the battle and the money would be deducted from your account.
Ya . In this kind of cases the profit actually goes to buyer. So as he requested for dispute he is surely in better side. The only 1 who can do somthing is paypal. Just show them some proof if you have( but u r saying that ur Yahoo Chat is not stored) n if you don't have anything just try to influence paypal and that dispute matter on your stage. Something can surely be done............
Update: Paypal has finally deducted the amount from my account with no reason told and the case is now closed. I get one more paypal email of the Person which is astuckey@earthlink.net which probably means that the person is owner or www.earthlink.net ? This is an old and reputed web services website. His address is as below (as in paypal account): Alexander Stuckey 2302 NW Harvard Walk Bentonville, AR 72712 United States Anyone to help ?
I think he is a smart player then.... If paypal had closed your case, you call them and speak to them again ...
can u tell little more ? is it a dispute opened by him or its auto held by paypal. if its just dispute & paid without shipping address , u will have money back.
I already updated the details in the thread. Please read all posts. Here is a copy of my conversation with paypal email support.
PayPal's policy is pretty much "buyer rules." In a digital transaction, PayPal will *always* adjudicate a claim in the buyer's favor.
This is NOT true for digital products (product not received type dispute). It is worth noting that the OP said that it was an unauthorized payment dispute, so I guess that's why the case was solved in favor of the buyer. I feel sorry for the OP, it seems he was ripped off by a Pro scammer.
I am very confused after all this has happened. As the buyer is owner of a very big internet firm and very old in internet business, I can not be certain that he actually cheated. Probably PayPal is right, maybe someone has misused his account, but how can be this possible? Anyways I have lost my money and will be careful from now onwards. Thanks for all of your help.
How you can say Alexander is owner of Earthlink Internet company? Is it just because he is having email address with Earthlink?
You are right earthlink does not provide free email but I know several of my clients who is having email with earthlink, this is because they are using earthlink's internet services. Earthlink provides email accounts to their internet users, like we can use one under Airtel or BSNL.
Ok, Ok, but his paypal account is 8 years old. Either he is really a pro scammer or someone paid via his paypal.
I only meant to say that the scammer is very skilled. it may well be the case that the buyer's PayPal account was abused.
