Recently, PayPal has not been processing credit card orders correctly. When somebody tries to pay with a credit card, they get an error page. It's severely hurting my business's sales; we've lost hundreds because of it. What's worse, when me and my partner call PayPal about it, they constantly change their story. First, they are like, "Try clearing your temporary internet files and cookies", which didn't make sense because I am not having the problem, it is my customers (although I have tested it myself and it does not work for me). Then the rep says, "Well your partner must have changed the settings on his account", but he has not in months. Then the rep says, "We have elevated the situation and our Technical Department is working on fixing the problem. In the meantime..." Anyways, this was a conversation I had today, and a few days ago (yes, it's been DAYS), when my partner called, the rep said that other PayPal users were having the same problem and they were working on it. In fact, the problem got fixed momentarily, but then it came back up fast. The rep today would not answer my question about how widespread the problem is; she said she didn't know but I'm not too sure about that. Anyways, I'm just angry because the PayPal rep kept changing the story and I don't know why they would do that, it's very irresponsible, and the fact that this problem is coming from PayPal is alarming. Credit card processing is a key business function and why the problem has existed for DAYS is beyond me. Does anyone else have this problem?
Sounds like the credit card processor is giving pay pal a hard time. They might have to many charge backs or fraud and are trying to work on fixing it. If they gave you run around like that then they must have a real problem right now.
Have you tried checking Paypal's Developer's Forum? ah and also I've read on Paypal Dev's blog that the a "bug issue" has been reolved. Be sure to check that also. Just a suggestion.. how about getting another "backup" payment processor like 2checkout or something equivalent? At least just to minimize the incidents of missed sales. Just-in-case. I hope that your problem will be solved as-soon-as-possible. Good luck ^ PLease read and try to understand the thread starter's post before hitting that reply button. It's always a good practice and maybe of great help .
Paypal's customer support has always been under average. Its a problem in itself to find their customer service number on their website. Switch to something else if most of your users use credit cards. Google Checkout is awesome, as your users will switch to that in an attempt to get the free $10, and you'll get commision for every person that joins.
Is Google Checkout already available for international merchants as it was only for US merchants at its launch?
Do users need to sign up for Google Checkout to use it? I don't want to utilize a payment method that makes people have to register.
2Checkout is a viable alternative - I have used them before and do not have any complaints. So this may work as an option for you...
you can´t be serious with this! paypals phone support (email too) is the worst i have ever experienced. no one knows what they are doing. just my experience (but i am not alone with this)
Ive had a similar problem with many of my customers over the last 10 days or so. after many emails, and lots of time on the phone to them, whatever was the problem they managed to fix, although they never did give me actual reasons as to why we were experiancing problems. good luck in getting it fixed, when you next call them, say to them, look, i am loosing money here, if you dont get this fixed TODAY, i have no choice but to move my card processing services to google checkout. You dont HAVE to do that, but by threatening to leave their service, they may get something done for you. afterall - no company wants to loose a customer.
