I was 3rd for a long time, didn't do much but I'm happy to go one step up the ladder. It doesn't bring a huge amount of traffic but it's really targeted to the topic.
I read a study that showed that position 1 to 3 gets 100% of the clicks where 4 to 10 starts to decrease.
What happened Y! I went from top 50 to *POOF*. overnight. Tons of junk their now. Maybe I should go ahead with RSS. All I hear is positive about it. Hubert
It does. The top three listings will get 100% of the clicks. 4th gets about 85% and it drops off more for 5, 6, 7 on till 10. In other words 100% of the searchers will click the top 3 results before they refine their search. 85% will click the top 4 results and so on.
I'm #1 for a keyword on google, yahoo, and MSN. 95% of the sales come from the google listing, 5% from the msn listing, I have YET to see any come from yahoo listing. Same keyword. Same ranking.
Visibility and actually getting the click are 2 different things... The top 3 results are not always what the searcher is looking for.
If they don't see it, they won't click it. Its not a difficult concept. Most surfers stop at the 3rd listing, then either do a new search or click one of the ones they've seen.
Click-thru and visibility are two different things. Look at the bottom of this article: http://www.webpronews.com/insiderre...-49-20050301RankAndPagePositionStillRule.html
Actually real savy internet shoppers use Google not Yahoo. You bring up a good point........ getting listed all over (including Yahoo) the place helps imporve your chances of getting traffic. My point is you do not need to be in the directory to get #1 SERPS in Yahoo.
