Yes...... today another update to the SERPS. In our office here we have a board where we track SERPS of Google and Yahoo but only for our BIG projects. One of our KW's today went from #47 to #14. On a big KW for a new site of ours we went from #248 to #79.

Also for the KW "SEO" we moved up 10-12 spots to #19. :)

A lot of our other sites had very little to no movement.

My clients' website have a yahoo listing, but although the website ranks in top5 in google, they are not there in yahoo. SO I wont say the yahoo directory counts.

It's very hard to test, but can u give any indication as to whether your client's site received any benefit from the directory listing?

I wouldnt expect it to have a huge impact, but now being positioned in the top 5 I feel maybe getting a directory listing should do the trick.

Save your money! We hold #1's and #2's for many KW's in Yahoo and never paid for the Y directory.

I've always been hesitant forking out the dosh cause $300 can go a long way on other marketing efforts. I just cant understand why the other sites are outranking me if its not because of the directory listing. Oh well... i shouldnt complain, some improvement in rankings is better than none.

When will Yahoo get back in the game??

We rank it the top five on Google and MSN with many of our search terms but are no where to be found on Yahoo. Yahoo has been shifting us around for months/years until the latest update, some two weeks ago, when we just disappeared!!!

I was told that Yahoo was NOW number three, behind Google and MSN.

If so, I know why?? All the changes and uncertainty!!

    Best of luck to all.

I have heard some people claim that when they got listed in the Yahoo! directory it was actually detrimental to their Yahoo! SE position.

It could have been coincidence but I heard that quite a few times.

Not true. I have a site that has no SEO work done, but listed in the Y! directory. It's ranked #1 in all of its top keywords (Yahoo only, nowhere else).

Yahoo is still number 2 but it all could change if you give Bill some time to put his money to work.

Yahoo is messed up man. I went thru all of my site searches at yahoo. I then did a link: search to various pages within my domain. I found that each and every listing had links from scraper sites (usually between 30-60 of them). Its no wonder that yahoo kicked the crap out of my site with all that spam linking to me. 1-2 might not matter, but when you have a 3000 page site, and ranked top 10 for about 60%-80% of those pages, you get a LOOOT of spam hitting you. And since the sites are created all at once, you gotta think that the SE's think something is up.

I agree yahoo is messed up. I think it could be possible to get a site kicked from yahoo by doing exactly what you just mentioned lorien1973.

Ummm, I disagree. Here's why. Real savy internet shoppers (meaning ready to buy) go to the Yahoo business directory to cut through all the crap and make a purchase. I recently got axed from Yahoo but my directory listing remains 'most favorite' for this reason I am still making sales on what tiny bit of Yahoo refers through the directory.

I realize many will argue this point, but I will stick to my guns. Even though I am quite proturbed that Yahoo banned me from thier organic SERPS I will renew my listing EVERY year.
