    Hello all!
Just found this forum and thanks for being here. I was hoping to get some help and/or advice. Pleae take it easy on me, especially after you read on.

I have a small e-commerce site selling gutter guards and decided to try Google Adwords. Yesterday(Sunday) I created my account and started messin with all the numbers and bids, etc. As you all probably can understand, I would do google searches and never seemed to find my ad. So stupid me increased to fifty bucks a day which is way more than I can afford, and sure enough I owe over a hundred bucks. It kept saying I had no clicks until today I saw a dropdown for "yesterday" and "today". I will chalk up as a lesson learned. RESEARCH BEFORE YOU GIVE CREDIT CARD INFO! Of course today I immediately dropped to 10 bucks a day but havnt a clue what to bid on for words.

The whole adwords campaign site still really confuses me, and I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for how much I should "bid" on a word. The words I need are gutter guards, gutter screens, gutter protection, etc.
Is ten or twenty cents too mall? Should I not even be doing this?
HAve you all been as confused as me?
Anyways, whatever you can share would really be appreciated. By the way, the site is gutterguyz.com
    Thanks again!
    Bro

Common mistakes...common mistakes, don't feel too bad.

A few miscellaneous pieces of advice:

-Learn to use the keyword matching options.
    - Turn off CONTENT MATCHING (at least until you're more familiar w/ the program)!

    - Check out some of the other threads in this forum

    - Check out the Optimization Tips if you haven't already.

    - You always have the option to hire someone to set up your campains (and run them) for you.

Thanks for the response! Stupid question. Is it expensive to have someone set up and run? Any ideas where to go?
What do you mean by turning off content matching? I have it set to exact match but dont know if I should go with broad match.

Nah, it's not too expensive. ;) It might be worth it for you just because you'll end up saving money by having your ads targeted better.

I can recommend someone if you'd like.

Go to - 'Edit Campaign Settings' and on the top right there's a section that allows you to select 'search network' and 'content network'. Then just verify that 'content network' is not selected.

I'm not sure if Adwords has it turned on by default for new Adwords accounts.

It's probably best for you to use "phrase match". This way your ads will show if someone types in "gutter protection for leaves". With exact match it would not show your site. And broad match would show your ad for the words "gutter" and "protection" with ANY other combination of words (even p0rn!).

I'm curious, did that hundred bucks of Adwords clicks bring you any business? If it didn't, did you consider looking into whether you were the victim of click fraud?

That is a good question. I did receive an email from an interested person requesting a sample of the gutter guard that I sell. I am not sure though, as I also have an EBay store and he may have seen me there.
But no, I did not get any business from it.
