Ok so I am freaking out a little here. Can someone please help me understand this. I am working on a site based on ,what i thought, was an awesome keyword niche that got 33,000 exact searched per month according to the Adwords Keyword tool. Having worked hard and ranked number 5 on page 1 for that keyword right now, I am getting zero traffic. Then I checked the keyword in the "Search Based Keyword Tool" and it gave me global searches to be approx 800 per month. huh??????? So for the purposes of this question, I picked a random keyword to test. Using "Acoustic Guitar Lessons" , exact global searches on the Adwords tool come out to be 40,500 but on the Search Based Keyword Tool, they are 3,500. That is a huge difference and affects ALL my campaigns. Can someone clear this up for me please. Thanks P.S. Keep in mind that google KW tool is not very accurate. Try using market samurai or other KW research tool.
Google keyword tools are all complete tosh. I rank number one in Google for a term that supposedly receives over 33k exacts in the UK monthly - but the most visitors I've received in a day from this keyword is about 20. I also rank number 3 in the UK for a term that supposedly receives around 18k exacts monthly and receive slightly more than for the previous and supposedly more popular term. It simply makes no sense and the figures are clearly rubbish.
of course if u had he top 3 spots on google u'd know if the figure was accurate, perhaps in your niche number 2 gets all the traffic.
bottom line is i don't think they want the public to know for free exactly how busy any particular search is.
Unfortunately, the only people who can tell us search volumes on Google are Google.......thats your only available data. All Keyword tools pull their data from the search engines.
