Ever since the Big Daddy update i see fluctuation in my website rankings every next day. Although this phenomena exists previously as well but never seen on so frequent basis. I am regulary monitoring one of my website ranking since past 2 months and really i donnt know what is going on. Its like on Monday my website ranks top with a very good keyword, on wednesday it slips a bit, next 2 days it is nowhere in top 100. again after few days it comes back and again disappears. Moreover now each datacenter shows different results, like results in google.fr, google.co.uk, google.com for a single query is always seems to be varying.
I couldn't agree more. Tracking my keywords has become a rather haunting experience of victories and failures, of highs and lows... perhaps I'm putting too much of myself into it Anyway, I'm sick of seeing such massive fluctuations. I hope they sort themselves out sometime soon.
Something is still messed up. I had one site go from 50K pages indexed to 100 and then back to 50K now I checked it last night and its back down to 200 or so. I'm seeing similar things with other sites as well. I thought maybe Google had recovered but it looks like they are still messed up!!!
I donnt know whats the problem but i cannt understand why is it happening and that too with Google. I am not talking about site ranking low or google not indexing links, i am talking of ranking fluctions everyday and different results in google domains. Big Daddy as planned was supposed to eradicate all mess but its happening opposite. It really become embrassing when u notify a client that his website is getting ranked and when he checks from his end its nowhere.
Testing usually exists for a short spam, its months now since these fluctuations are happening. Something seriously needs to be sorted out here.
Google has been sucking beyond belief lately. Slow in indexing new sites, aweful search results. I do not use it as much for sure. I have switched to using Yahoo and MSN. They (Google) better fix this mess or what made them who they are will brake them which is the webmaster community and viral marketing.
LOL Not all is lost. I've just found a use for Google I haven't used Google for search for ages (cos like you I think its results are crap: out-of-date, inconsistant and irrelevant) but I just needed some old info which had been on my site months ago but doesn't exist any more ... you can see where I'm going with this! So a quick 'site:mydomain', find the page, hit 'Cached'... and bingo, sure enough there it is! Google - a useful resource when you need old information.
Nedguy, thanks for the useful tip. Works for me too, back as far as June 2005, but I'm sure they will find some older results soon. It loads quicker than the WayBack site as well...
Yahoo and MSN have becoming more consistant in search results. Really its very surprising in google that the results which u see in morning for a site fade away by evening.
