There are many big companies in US and India, who are using Joomla as their website platform. I did around 11 corporate websites for US clients of mine for around 10,000$ for each And in India also, there are many companies and big ones even using Joomla.. Its not good to reveal the names. SO I wont say here..
Im not entirely sure which big companies use it but I know that a few do as it more simple than most other cms.
Ya it being open source CMS they hire programmers to modify it n wid dier unique designs/structures make them look non Joomla. Especially the web designing firms do this for the clients who also might not have heard of Joomla.
Yeah! every can use it because its Open Source Project unless you can customize according to your requirements
I have seen that most of the companies are using drupal. observer.com is an example. I have never seen a big company using joomla. but that doesn't mean no one is using it.
Joomla is not a popular choice for corporate websites. The reasons being - security, website speed and joomla is bloatware. Their might be some corporate websites out there that use joomla, but there are not going to be too many.
Well, to actually answer the question, how about these: http://www.porsche.com.br http://www.tnawrestling.com http://www.naturebase.net http://www.itwire.com
I have done around 13 corporate websites for few clients and among them one is Nikon and RayBan and EPSON as well. In India, also many are using it..
You mean to tell me that the nikon website uses joomla?? http://www.nikon.com/ and the epson site uses joomla? http://www.epson.com/america_north.html You built those sites? Wow, I'am impressed, you did a pretty good job. Whats it like working for Epson? Because the Epson site says: http://www.epson.co.jp/e/privacy/global_aboutthissite.htm
My partner in US used to build corporate sites with Joomla but of course these are customized as well. Like one project we did includes Joomla integration with SAP using a web service.
Currently working on a rather large site, internetcapitalbuilder.com. It is a work in progress, looks very bare until you login. Joomla is great for holding large amounts of data and giving you tight control over navigation, however for anything smaller it is by far overkill. The CMS is one of the more complex ones I've used, however it is perfect for large corporate websites where you need granular control!
Joomla is the best to use, I found a lot of website build on wordpress, so I think joomla support more websites for Companies than WP at least.
In our country; Indonesia, the biggest telecommunication company using joomla... please check telkomspeedy
Well, it least provides a good start while you are small, once you are big you can do anything you like with it and move on to something better.
I was helping out in a joomla training class in London a couple of weeks ago and had the pleasure of meeting brian teeman, (one of the original joomla founders) he mentioned this site in the class www gazzetta gr its the 10th largest site in greece and is run on joomla
