Big-Board size forum for sale

Hi everybody. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by projects lately and wanted to see if there was any interest in this one. It's a big-board sized forum, nearly a million posts. I'm asking $3,000 for it. I don't want to post the url in public, so if you want to see what it is, please post below and I'll PM it to you. Please only ask if you're a serious buyer. The revenues are fairly small, less than a couple hundred a month. The price is justified by the size of the forum, and I am willing to consider offers.
    Thanks

Are we only allowed to PM after 10 posts or something? Call me nuts but I do not see a PM icon! Peter, will you please PM me the URL?

Hi, can you pm me the url.. and does the site require a dedicated mysql db to keep its backend alive with 1million posts?

what kind of specs would be needed to run something this big?

    thanks, Shaun

Thanks, but could you guys please pm me directly instead of posting to this thread. For some reason it upsets the moderators and they give me an infraction.

Can you tell me, in this thread, if they are all genuine posts from real people (ie not bots, RSS feeds etc) and if the site is Big Boards listed as well as 'big-board sized'?

All of the posts are done by real people. It's an actual community, the people join in discussions there because they enjoy doing it. There are no incentives, no bots, no feeds, and no reason any of them would stop participating.

Heh, it's not me, it's the moderators. They're throwing around infractions for some reason.

It's because there's loads of new people, or ex-banned people rejoining, who spend all day looking for sellers who wont post the URL in their sale thread just so they can post "PM me me the URL" to get their post counts up. There's a lot of people who think everyone should post the site they are selling in the thread, if for nothing else to avoid the pointless PM me spam. There's plenty of ways to post a link without Google picking it up if sellers are worried about that, and DP is really the only place where you can get away with not posting it anyway - Sitepoint for instance does not allow you to do that, but then Sitepoint has other problems, or it did the last time I went there.

Anyway I would like to see the address however you choose to show it to me. :)

If I wanted to post the url, I would have listed this on one Sitepoint. And, actually, I was the one who made that a rule on Sitepoint to begin with. ;)

    hi there peter,
something does not add up here... the domain is less than two years old and one member has 50k posts with an avg of 50 per day? is this an old dbase that was moved to this URL? also, ~1700 members made 1 million posts? just seems strange to me.

    Interested, but need clarification.

    thanks

I was going to ask the same, the domain name was for sale a couple of months ago with no website on it. Have you just moved the site to this address, what is actually for sale?

The site had a really crappy domain when I acquired it. I sought out and purchased a much nicer domain for the site. IMHO, it adds value to the community, and everyone was pleased with the change.

I think perhaps you should have mentioned that in the first place, or at least sent us the old domain too. The current domain is a very obscure word I think, I'm not sure it does add a lot to the site?
