Big Board Admins Conference?

Discussion in 'Forum Management' started by petertdavis, Dec 28, 2006.

I was thinking it'd be kinda neat to do a yearly (low-key) conference for just admins of larger sized forums. I think it would be valuable to get together and trade ideas, and enjoyable to build a sense of community with face to face meetings. I got a bit of interest posting this in other forums, and was wondering if anyone here would be interested in participating.

    I like it.

We have a group over on TAZ (theadminzone) for Big-Board owners, I think it'd be a good idea.

I met a guy at PubCon who was thinking of doing some type of a convention for blogmasters and forum-masters actually. If you are interested, I can see if I can search through my emails for some information. I think I might have his domain name.

There is also Confabb that might be helpful in finding some conferences.

Yea, I've been a member at TAZ for a couple years. Sadly, the BB section on TAZ is dead. BB admins don't seem to visit TAZ that frequently. I did post this on there yesterday, and didn't get much of a response. The response on DP and SP has been much better.

    BTW, what's your forum?

Sure, I'd be interested to know who it is, and what's he doing. Thanks for the url to confabb, I didn't know about it.

So, would you be interested in participating?

I think 100,000 posts is what you need to be considered a 'Big Board Admin'. That's how many posts you need to get access to www.bigboardadmin.com, the community for BB Admins.

I just browsed over to TAZ after posting and saw your post over there - Oops! :p

I agree, it seems the entire forum there is populated with "wannabe" forum owners (10 members, 35 posts, wondering why they're not making $1K/mo on AdSense...)

I run NICOclub.com and The NICO Network.

Memory is not as good as what it used to be but I am pretty sure the guy was from http://www.site-reference.com/ and David Taylor is another name that I am remembering. I am pretty sure David Taylor is the name because I remember making a comment about how I knew a David Taylor from school.

I told him (and you) that I would be interested. Being the Admin of a few boards and mod of a number number, it's always a good thing to learn more about the boards, how they work, how to notice spam, etc
