Adsense can give you some easy money if you find the right way. However, finding the right way isn't that easy.

If you're telling your relatives and friends after your success, then they're the lucky ones who find the right way easily. lol :)

What I've been doing recently is telling people "I sell ad space". Most of them don't really care how and never bother asking.

I have taken the time to explain things to my family. I think even my 93-year-old grandfather understands the basic Adsense concept. Don't worry, he won't be competing with us. I wish he would though - his stories about growing up in the great depression deserve to be online.

I attended some seminars yaers ago where the speaker pointed out that if you become financially successful you will have to find new friends. Not because you dropped the old ones, but because they were no longer comfortable around you. You are interested in different things, you aren't as up to date with sports/news/tv shows and you just don't "fit" as well.

"Getting rich in the dark" has been popular for a long time and website publishing does it nicely.

If friend hadn't told me, then I wouldn't be here now. :) (Thanks Julia!)

Do I tell others? If I think they'd be interested and if I think they're internet savvy enough and adsense would benefit them, yes. I see no reason not to. Thus far the only two who have been remotely interested is another map obsessed friend and my accountant.

But generally I don't talk much about my web adventures and enterprises with friends because most of them just don't get it. Any of it. To be honest, of my friends and family there are really only a tiny handful who have any idea what a web page is, let alone a < p > tag. Adsense would make no sense to them at all.

I tell them, I doubt they understand though. Most of them just say, "That's cool". One friend listened to my explanation and then said "So what do you sell?"
Only one person completely grasped the possibilities, but he said he wasn't interested in learning how. Gonna quit telling people from now on.

I usually keep to myself. Not really any friends using online ads for their livelyhood.

If you tell your friends, you run the risk of one of them "helping out" by clicking all your ads. That's the kind of help that none of us need, so I don't tell anyone except immediate family members.

    They aren't dumb...

And yea I agree with the above, either you get

"how do you get paid without doing [manual] work?" - my grandfather

"you get paid per CLICK? like if I go to your site and click a thousand times you'd be rich? what is your site?!" - everyone else...

just don't tel them your URL, safest thing. I usually just explain, you know, thanks for wanting me to be rich :)cool:) but I do fine, no need to do that.

that or I loose my cool and get into a one-sided arguement about how click fraud is theft and that always blows right over their head...

Or you just need to explain it better. Honestly, the selling ad space thing makes sense to most people - they know that magazines and newspapers do it. no big stretch to imagine web sites doing it. I wouldn't go into detail about Adsense or text links or affilaites unless you have plenty of time on your hands though

The ironic thing about families and friends "helping you out" by clicking on your ads is that, they wouldn't do it if they didn't didn't really like you and honestly wanted to help you succeed. Oh, the irony sucks. :)

One time I had a class of business English learners and I explained how it worked. I had a little problem the next day explaining that they shouldn't click on ads for fun, it's not fair, etc.

I know. I don't even tell people URLs. I hate explaining what I do to someone, only to have them say "Oh, cool. So I could click on your ads a bunch of times?"

I could try to explain why not to do things like that, but I usually change the subject, "Nevermind, by the way, did you see x sporting event on x recent day?"

"In general, very few people have the attitude required to become successful web publishers. As with most things in life, attitude is more important than aptitude."
it is true ,i earn from adsense more than other sites' ads program, and adsense is easier than others

No I don't even say "Adsense" or "Google" (then you hear "GOOGLE PAYS YOU?!" I say I have ads on the site and they how the amount it determined, I say people click the ads and then it goes downhill from there.
