    Hi Guys,

I have been contacted by many webmasters in the recent days that they will place a Bid only if the bid their bid doubled on my site Or something like I will give them an $XX high bid my site they will do the same on their site (like a Link exchange).

I have refused to all these requests, as this really defeats the purpose of the guys who have place high bids and got their site listed on the homepage and after all it is hard earned money put in by these guys.

So please share your Opinions on the same and what would you do in a similar situation and have u been contacted with similar requests.

The Link to my bidding directory is in my sig :)

PS : This is not a linkbait to drive traffic to my site.

Its a common practice these days. I had also such emails in the past, without even responding I deleted the same.

Some of them submit links for cheap like 1-2$ and then email to that paypal id, hence I made min bid 10$ for the bid dir in my siggy to drive away nonsense.

I would recommend you to post the sites url's which are into such bad practices.

Lol.. how would people consider it as LB?

Anyways, this month i had only one request of that kind and i was asked to give some christmas gift.. by increasing the bid for free.
    I just ignored it.

If i am so generous, i just post my promotional offers in the forums.. don't do that privately.
Those kinda deals like increasing the bid or doubling any new bid is just Bad business, and which i see a few times in S&A section too.

    i second this.

i dont think it is fair to all members who pay lets say 10 usd.
and next week they see new members paying 5 usd and be listed higher in the directory.

    the only special deals they should give;

    dedication to the directories
    custom designs
    submission to search engines
    submission to directories
    off line promotion
Try to get good ranks for the directories
social bookmarking and all other things what will be good for all paying customers on the directories.

Good call not to get involved in these type of requests on a bid directory as it totally devalues the existing genuine bidders.

I don't really get requests like this but if I did, the email would go straight to the trash.

Very well said Amit & others. As I have a large heavily promoted bid directory i get many emails each day like this. Often people wanna swap fake bids - even though a bid on their site is usually not worth the same as it is on mine.

Its all in a good days work like finding and catching the people who steal themes, copy and paste categories, copy and paste my unique content etc etc.

Why should a bidder who took a greater risk by bidding early get less value for their money than someone who comes along after the directory is doing well?

Before and while preaching Ethics always remember what you yourself have done in the past, for what you do will always stick with you.

Copying descriptions is a huge no no.

This post is to exemplify, not badger but also to let you not forget.

I just like to explain everything when it is brought like this on the board ;)

I am happy that it is ending on a friendly note, We all make mistakes & most important point is to learn from them.

on bid directories, every amount that is displayed must be paid, else you would be cheating a genuine bidder by out bidding him in free bids or bid-ups! Free doubling the bids is cheating and it is better to stay away from that kind of bid directories!

Giving free minimum bid is not bad, as minimum bids don't compete and dosenot out bids any genuine bidder. but it is still something that i have not done, and would not do!

Good to see it's sorted in life i have learnt is that you must be prepared to make mistakes if you are going to get out there and push the envelope studies show people who make it to the top have all made mistakes, it's just part of it. Made just about as many mistakes as i have made good calls just not repeating the mistakes is the key.

On that bid directories are tough in this sense where a normal directory can offer a discount, you guys have very limted options making it hard to promote them other than perhaps some more bonus deep links etc ?

a tough gig thats doe sure, cheers and i'll have a beer in the name of bid dirs tonght and general and neiche and every other type i can think of, if i loose count i will just re index and start again.

happy new year to all and see you in 08 great
