I see varied points of view regarding bidding directories and the qualities they do/do not have. There's arguments supporting this model as a quality resource because of the editorial integrity of the owners and what is allowed/not allowed within the index, but I'm not sure that this may the best metric to determine the overall quality of a bid directory. My reservations come from the impression that the bidding model inhibits the possibility of editorial additions and as a result may never become a well rounded resource. The basic model does little to invite submissions from general topic sites and appears to attract/target webmaster related sites or commercial entities that generate some form of revenue. Will this model ever encourage submissions from web sites that may be of interest to the broader Internet community (outside of webmaster circles) or the average surfer? Could a bid directory eventually become a well rounded resource that would appeal to a wide audience?
Given that its relatively new, I think the answer is yes, just needs more time and development with new/or edit features etc
DO you really think Directory gonna be NEXT Big thing in about 5 years or so? If you agree with that i am going to buy a copy of PHPLB
It's not going to go anywhere if it doesn't get updated. According to the support forums at PHPLB, the owner hasn't visited since early August and hasn't been at DP since July. Not a good sign for the script and it's future if it has no support and no development team.
Try calling the company, no answer, no answer on support e-mails, info e-mails, general contact e-mails, pm's, etc... possibly he ran with the money
Wow, that's pretty bad. Someone should go to his whois address and see what's up. He seems to be online at one of his forums: http://www.elancetalk.com/
Heard Tekime is currently busy with family matters so I don't think he will abandon his pet project just because he wants to.
That is a good point and one that I tried to address when I built my bid directory, you can see that I offer top home page spots on a per category basis so all different niche's get a chance to be on the home page, not just directories.
