Bid question

When I was setting up my adwords search and G says that the minimum bid is .10 per click. That seems to be standard.

How is it then when a word is completely unused I have to pay G over the minimum (.10 per click) to get an active listing? I had to up my bid to .30 just to get an active listing. I stopped setting up the listing b/c I thought .30 was too high for my budget.

    Thoughts?

What do you mean by "completely unused"?

Is it possible that your ad wasn't originally showing for other reasons? Maybe it was a coincidence that after you bid up the ad started showing.

The word had no bids next to it in the Adwords bid tool.
