Still, it is permissible for the Christian to eat anything including stuff filled with worms, high in cholesterol, and just plain skanky.

As far as the law goes, it was put there by God to be our tutor to lead us to Christ see Galatians 3:24. Once we come to Christ, then there is no need for the tutor...we have the Holy Spirit to guide us.

The way I often look at things is that God is our heavenly father, and that this wording was chosen for a reason. Traditionally the father, as the head of a household, was the maker, and enforcer of rules. But a loving father makes rules for his child in order to guide them. The civilization and culture of the world has grown and matured. Many of the laws he made WAAAY back when, were to guide a young culture, a young people, into a new understanding.

Sometimes, you have to set simple, easy to understand rules. I mean how hard was it to lead the Israelites away from the worship of idols who's religions demanded human sacrifice? You just have to take teaching a child in stages. Now, that's not to say that my understanding of God is defined by what a human father is, but rather than I think it was an analogy, and one that may have helped me understand things a little bit better.

I like shrimp, wrapped in bacon with some slivers of cheese and jalapeno in there, grilled over mesquite. There is nothing more heavenly :)

    Mango... blick.

The grilled shrimp with cheese and peper I can easily see. I'd probably go with pepper jack to get both in one, and make things stick better. I doubt I'd add bacon though. Never really been a big fan. The only way that bacon can even really be considered superior, in my opinion, is that it can be wrapped around things. Still, it's rare that I'd want too.

Okay, now you're just getting sick.

Although on RARE occasion, a bacon wrapped steak can be nice...

most of the dietary laws can easily be found to have had health benefits still taught today when cooking foods. One restaurant I went to lately has a note on the bottom of each page of the menu talking about cooked foods and risks involved in undercooked meats.

Whats interesting is that God has given permission for most of the previously unclean animals to now be eaten...I refer to the dream where a sheet came down from heaven with lots of unclean animals on it, and God said to eat them...will have to look up the book, chapter, and verse, can't remember off the top of my head...
