If your budget is flexible and your main priority is sound quality, I'd strongly suggest you check out the Apple HomePod (the larger, current-generation one). I was a bit skeptical at first, not being a massive Apple-only person, but a friend demoed his, and the sound really impressed me. It has a genuinely rich, room-filling sound with surprisingly deep bass for its size, and the clarity in the mids and highs is excellent. It doesn't sound muddy or tinny like some others. It does have Siri for smarts, which handles the basics like timers and music control just fine, but the audio is where it truly shines.
