Beware with Registerfly............

I attempted to transfer some domains names to Registerfly and the transfer failed, so they keep my $$ and put it into my acct as a credit (ok fine no problem). So I check my bank transactions fo rthe week and see 2 charges.
So Registerfly double charges me, but only gives me one credit for $12.
I attempt calling their so called 24/7 phone support, and it just hangs up on me after holding for like 5 minutes. I made a few trouble tickets and they never answer back either. So finally a few more days later I contact my bank and asked for them to charge back one of those charges, still leaving me the original $12 in my Registerfly acct. I sent them a trouble ticket again to let them know that I had done that because of the double charge and not giving me atleast the full amount as a credit.

Here is the answer I got back from them about 5 days later (keep in mind they havent answered back to anything until now) :

    "Response:
Since you have done a charge back with your cc we will suspend your
account and place a 100.00 chargeback fee and a 25.00 account activation
    fee to your account.

Your account will remain locked until this is resolved"

    Glenn
    Risk and Billing Department

So now they are holding all my domains hostage...... Now this is some serious BS from Registerfly.....

    Update.......

I am ashamed to say that there really is no update. Since I see some have read this and it should be helpful info for any one considering this company...
I have still not managed to get any one on the phone. Support hasnt answered my messages by email either....I have contacted ICANN and hopefully they can help. If anyone has any advise on what else I can do to not loose my domains to them ....please help.

    Thanks

I have never had any problems with RegisterFly and their support team always replies back to my emails. :-\

Also, same transfer issue happened with me once but I had no problems using my account credit. You might have the error in your account settings; you probably had it automatically bill your bank account. You should've chosen to select your account balance as your default payment if that was available, and if it was, it wasn't RegisterFly's fault.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with them.
Good luck on resolving the issue. :)

    Hi EGS,

Actually when the transfer failed the original charge became my acct credit. I personally never like to let credits build up on any kind of accts for this exact reason. Imagine if I had a couple hundred $$ of credits there, I would have to pay them the rediculous money they now want so that I could get to my acct. I just used the same old way of purchasing with a credit card, they just billed me twice and only credited my acct for one charge.

Have you been successful at getting them on the phone ever? I have tried for the last lets say 6 days....and get put on hold....then a hang up.

I'm sure there is someway I will get this issue resolved....but it sure does get aggrevating at not being able to get any kind of response from a company that you spend money on.

    Thanx for your response

I have 109 domains at Registerfly where I have been for about 3 years now. Never had too many problems. There were a couple times that they were slow to respond to help tickets, but I have certainly never been hung up on.

I would give their customer support a B- on average, which is fine with me being I don't do a lot of transferring or have a lot of problems. You have trouble getting them on the phone? I can't remember not being able to get through. They may not be the most pleasant or upbeat customer service people, but they always get what I ask done.

For the price and the insane number of features you get free, I have never considered moving to another registrar.

I just spoke with the Ceo of Registerfly, He explained to me his side of the story and I must say that I have known him to be a fair and honest man that loves to please his customers. It was due to the threats made that you were going to place a chargeback against them which would cost them over 100 dollars. He explain it and I understand why they took this action.

Now what I got him to do is to remove the lock on your account and you are free to use your account ... Registerfly is a good company as a rule .

A suggestion in the future is to be careful how you handle things when they dont happen as fast as you would like them too... sometimes things take a little time to get straightened out but sometimes it requiers patience.

I hope I have helped you by getting your account unlocked - I guess owning a bunch of domains is good for something more than the headaches it usually brings lol

    Have a great day

    Mr. Crow,

You know you are actually one of a kind, I definately didnt think I was going to have much success unless I took it legally. But you got it done for me. I definately want to thank you, they have reinstated it and we agreed on the money issues.

    Thanks alot .... awesome !!!!

registeryfly is a horrible company. The SAME EXACT STORY you just told, happened to me. Only mine was a bit worse because they also took the liberty of signing me up for their shitty hosting. After weeks of waiting for my refund, I too, said if they didn't give me my money back and forget about these "credits" I would back charge them. In the end they threatened me with fee's for back charging. So I ended up eating all the money to save my domains from being disabled.

I will NEVER EVER EVER buy or recommend anyone to that company again. When ever I have a chance, I tell people to stay away from them if possible. Just a horrible company and bad customer support to compliment the overall business...

Well I feel it is uncool to sit and bash them after I put my self out and used my relationship to help a fellow member .. I did this to try to help but now it may comback to bite me. Please lets be happy another fellow DP member has got help for his problem and please just let it go at that. If you want to start another thread fine ... but please dont ruin what I have tried to do and that was to resolve and defuse the situation. I ask this in the spirit of what we are here for .... to help each other

One of my friend lost his domain with registerfly. He thought that it would be auto renewed and forgot about it. The renewal fee was charged but the domain is not renewed and expired. As usual some asshole registered it. Registerfly has some probs with its new software.
