Wow, I forgot all about this. It happened to me and my boyfriend when we were out for a walk. Reading it now sounds so familiar, but it was like 2 years ago and if we hadn't been so far from home and walking we would have bought them but didn't want to carry them. I never heard about it again and forgot all about it. I had no idea it was a scam. Those guys are good. Anyway, I didn't feel like reading the whole page, so do the speakers not work or something? What's the deal?
My rich Nigeria friend will be happy. He loves giving out his money. He told me that he emailed you a while back but you didn't respond.
Hey he contacted me too, smind'. He also likes to contact people w/ classified listings on my site. Very courteous guy!
Thanks for reminding me about my work. I must log out and not come back til done. LOL, I did yesterday but it was hard but got lots done.
Hey guys - I have some speakers left over from this job I just did, I want to sell them...anyone interested..? They are 22.635" Audiophilevoxiconical subs - 4,000,000 watts RMS I'll let them go for a mere $100 each, but you have to buy the set, there are 46 in a set. Or PM me the amount you are willing to pay. (J/K - duh)
He just wants what all Nigeria Nationals want....... to share his $15,000,000 with everyone he emails. lol
This exact thing happened to me when I was stopped at the traffic lights a few years ago. A couple of guys in a white van tried to sell me speakers. I thought it was a bit dodgy and the traffic lights went green so I took off. I didnt realize it was a known scam. Ross
I was heading up Hiway 416 last week behind a Ministry of Highways truck when a damn truck seat he had in the back of the truck (i.e., the cargo bay) came flying off rolling and bouuncing down the hiway... I veered off to the right shoulder and the guy behind me veered off to the left, with the seat rolling between us... damned idiots!
Sorry to bump this thread.... But I spoke with a friend who was approached by people selling speakers...and they were in an SUV. So he asked how he could become a speaker selling dude and they told him where to go. For some reason he followed through and sure enough, they're no longer using white vans. I guess they were too obvious.
I actually did fall for this scam. It was around 6 or 7 years ago. I was at a carwash here in Texas and two dudes rolled up in a black SUV and had the back full of speakers. The driver came up to me really hyped up and said they where delivering the speakers to somewhere, forgot where, and something had got messed up and they had to either sale them or take them back. They gave me a laminated sheet showing with pictures of the speakers and prices. I fell for it . It said like $199.00 or something in that range and told me they'd give em to me for $50. I told I didn't have that much on me. They told me "come on man, juggle a car payment, you can sale them for twice as much". So I did. I got them to follow me to my banks atm and I paid them and went home with my new speakers. They felt heavy and looked high priced. I called my cousin to come over to look at them and told him what happend. He laughed his ass off and told me I'd got screwed! He brought one of his speakers over that he bought from them the day before and we took them both apart. They where the cheapest speakers I've ever seen! Needless to say we got scammed, lol. Life's a lesson I guess, you learn as you go.
i fell for this one close to 20 years ago ... same pitch they were "extras" either had to sell em or take em back ... I was smart though I made the guy take it out of the box so I could see it before I bought em ... and they looked sweet ... my brother had a kick ass stereo, well long story short they were blown before we even got the bowl lit
At least there were speakers in the box. I have a friend that bought a TV and they had taped a brick to the bottom of the box. (He saw a TV out of the box to see how nice it was but they gave him one of the "new" ones in a selaed box.
Half and half...I have another friend that bought a widescreen from a guy in a van and it still works perfect 5 years later. I strongly suspect it had a previous owner but as Chris Rock says "Thats the great thing about crackheads, you can get a VCR for $5"
I had some guys pull me over about 6-7 months ago trying to sell the speakers. Same spiel... leftover from an install... had an actual magazine with the speakers in them on an advertised page. These guys are everywhere.
