Banning in e-gold does not stop anyone from scamming someone else. It is so easy to just create a new account with validation.

Not that easy to get rid of scammers with a system which does not do any kind of validation. Even payment processors that do validate their members are still far from perfection, and not at all scam-free..

Yeah, your case must have been genuine. That guy was probably offering you Indian Rupees physically. In my case, this guy had 0 posts and 0 itrader.

What convinced me to trade with him was that he was pilling to pay me first

What sounds too good may not be as good.. That's how tricks are meant to convince people. Just use it as a lesson in the future.

Wow, sorry to hear about it! I've never heard of such scam, though I've heard that PayPal has no seller protection (the 1st time I heard it, it doesnt matter if its tangible or not, as long as the other party cancelled the transaction then you're left in the cold). Yikes!

You might not be remmebering the name buddy but I do remember his DP id and name. ;)

What the fellow didn't like is that after asking for personal information and details you backed out and also didn't leave a message that you were backing out.
Altleast you should have had informed him that you had backed out.

Anyways, no personal grudges as such. I hope you will be more careful in this regard next time onwards.

BTW: E-gold to paypal funds is always a risky proposition and should be dealt with care.

Luckily I was offered help by Disgused who is a member on this forum and everything went just perfect, I cleared my e-gold account and dumped it. Somehow I realised it is terrible service if you want to take it as a payment processor alternative.

true, there are exchangers in the past who offered paypal to e-gold, they got their account frozen by pp (it didn't matter that the pp funds were ok)

it's best to do it with reputable individuals, it's difficult.

Well, that is not true. Paypal started as a payment platform for online auction, typically eBay. Although it can be use for anything now, it is still more apt for sale of physical products which needs to be shipped. No items goes through Paypal and if there is a conflict, it is just your words against the other parties. I mean, who is Paypal to believe in ?

The Seller protection comes into play where delivery can be verified. Thus it means the independent proof of delivery is very important to ensure that the seller is protected. If you cannot provided that, it is as good as you did not deliver anything.

Sorry to hear that :( Lucky it wasn't more. It have happened to me a time also. But I guess you learn from your mistakes :)

Anyway you should never exchange your e-gold to PayPal unless the person is trustable and have a good reputation. Because of the e-gold "Get paid stay paid" policy there is noway you can get your money back. And it's against PayPal's policy, if they find out they will suspend your account.

However you can report him e-gold and they will probably block his account from sending money. Also if the PayPal account you sent the money doesn't matter to you you can report him to PayPal as well. His account and your account will be suspended. But as I said only do this if it's a account you don't care about, like if you verified it with a VCC and don't have any money in there or an attached Bank Account. At least it might make you feel a little better if you know that the scammer can't do anything with the money :)

    Anyways I'm sorry for you.
