I registered a .cm domain through them. Zero problems for months. Didn't change a thing ever. about 10 days ago my domain name just stopped working. They have provided me with little to no info on the matter. They have deleted my comments on their facebook fan page and kicked me off the fan page. I spent quite a bit of money branding this site and it is in ruin now because of them. If you value your business, stay away from namecheap.
Namecheap hosting is the worst in my opinion, down constantly and they always have a "legit" reason on why.
its not a hosting issue. the records went away from the .cm registry and they have no idea why. I have to beg for the same canned answer daily. they have no clue of what is going on
That could be a bad sign if it is not just a hosting issue, could be that they move their incompetent hosting staff to their domain staff. Have no problem with their domain, though this sounds scary. Could it be an Enom issue?
even if it is an enom issue, they are responsible for it. I bought the domain name from namecheap, not enom directly The lack of info, ignoring my support tickets, etc. Low class.
It's a problem with the .cm registry not with namecheap. The .cm registry site is also down. Nothing namcheap can do. http://status.namecheap.com/ http://community.namecheap.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&p=10733
.cm=Cameroon, $104/ year. People buy them mainly to get typo traffic from .com or benefit from the confusion. A few years ago the .cm registry wildcarded all domains so that all ***.cm traffic went to parked pages with paid search links. They withdrew that after an outcry and action by ICANN. It is considered one of the risker domains to visit. http://newsroom.mcafee.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=3600
i hadnt thought of that Iv got over 700 domains with name cheap , admittadly all .coms .co.uk. .net .infos but iv never had a problem with them
I saw their generic reply. Though it does not cover my issues. I didn't make any changes. It just stopped working. I have checked many cm domains and they are working. Enom has not said anything publically. I feel this goes further then the registry. Maybe someone didn't pay a bill.
I had zero problems until this issue. I finally got a reply today and they have no idea on how to solve the problem or when it will be fixed.
Are you trying to change your .cm domain name's nameservers? From what I've gathered so far, updating records at the .cm Registry is what's causing the problem. Those whose .cm domain names don't need "record changes" are fine, so their web sites are showing up. It's those who need to change things like nameservers, contact email, etc. that are apparently having issues at the Registry. Unfortunately NameCheap is correct that they can't really do much except keep bugging the Registry to hurry up. Understandable this is causing frustration for you and other users in a similar problem, but it's not totally NameCheap's fault they can't give you any definite answer when the one they're relying on won't give them one either. At this point, all anyone can do is sit tight and wait. Not acceptable, but...we're all open to suggestions how to especially fix it with the .cm Registry. And no, telling them to just fix it isn't enough. That's what everyone's trying to do.
I was going to say "you get what you pay for" - Domains are an investment which is why it's important to protect your investment with the best possible service.
