I had big problems with hostgator about a year ago, similar thing...they closed down my sites because of high server load, then they stated modifying my code, taking out RSS feeds, eventually they actually broke the site by removing extra code.

I also had some nasty problems with site5 a few months ago. With both hosts I was using a low-cost package and not using max resources (bandwidth nor diskspace) but the truth is that with all the low competitive pricing they don't want customers like you (medium traffic) or I, they want folks with big dreams that use 5% resources every month, that is the only way they can make money. I now shell-out over $75 a month for hosting but I have the confidence that my sites will be online and run fast.

I just left 1and1 and I have a client that uses godaddy. Not really impressed with either one, so we just moved to a failover account at Resellingzoom and have been happy so far. There have been issues, but they have been quick to respond, I hope it stays that way. I have read that for some users they have been slow at fixing issues, so who knows.

    they modified your code?
they completely deleted one of my sites that was custom coded, AND wasn't even the problem!
I only had a backup of the old code, so I had to recode a lot of stuff
I was so pissed, the rep who deleted it said it was unrecoverable

it also took about 10 tickets to actually get a backup of everything that was left

omg resellerzoom is the worst hosting company EVER!

the load average on their servers was 6 and they said this was "normal"

the customer support was too snobby and basically told me to shut my gob or else they'll delete my account

my sites were down, once, for a week without a reason

never would I ever go near a company with zoom in their name

You have to be the stupidest idiot I've ever seen. I don't like hostgator and I don't like the type of "packages" they offer because I find them grossly misleading.

But let me sum it up for you since you seem to be a total retard. I agree with what hostgator did.

For simplicity sake, let's say there's a 100 accounts on one shared server. The guy that starts this thread complain, his account is eating all the resources. All 100 accounts don't work. They all time out. 100 people's sites don't work at ALL!! They're all down.

You expect hostgator, to contact the abuser, and give them a reasonable amount of time to fix the situation(24-48hrs) all the while 99 other people's sites are offline????? What if your site was one of those 99, you'd probably be singing another tune.

The fact of the matter is that people that pay for their hosting and well in the range of their resources shouldn't be punished(having their site offline), so an abuser can have some time to fix it.

    You're an idiot.

I agree. I find this highly unprofessional. Yeah, the guy was bitching online, but this isn't how you resolve it. You want to defend your company, do it without posting account information. End of story.

Yes. Bluehost is the best for shared hosting because they do not shut down your websites without noticing you first, but Hostgator do. Hostgator shut down your sites without noticing you first, when you over used on resources...

    Let me rephrase my post:
Hostgator is good for small websites (new sites). When you sites get more traffic, and over used the resources (violate their tos, etc.), Hostgator will shut down your websites without noticing you first. It happened to me twice.

... One day, I never saw my sites up so I checked my email and got the message from Hostgator, saying that my sites vilolated their tos by using too much resources. I sent them two emails to beg and beg them to get my sites up so I could find a new host, but they said "No". This was my unintentional violation because I didn't know my sites get more traffic. But they still shut down my sites. They did not give me a chance to optimize my database tables and fix my sites, but they shup down my sites immediately.

Anyway, they refunded me some money when I told them that was my unintentional viloation of overused resources, but I had to send them about 5 emails to ask for refund before they refunded me for unused months.

    Thanks.

OH, that's right. My unintentional mistake.
Can any moderator please remove the first two messages?
Something was too slow when I clicked on "Post Quick Reply" today so I had to refresh the browser and resubmitted.
    Thanks.
