I just got this email from hostgator and checking my site saw that I have no database there: We were forced to disable the ukaddre2_ukaddress database on the marauder server. There were multiple queries running causing mysql to use almost 100% of the cpu. Please review the logs below and let us know what will be done to prevent this issue. PHP: And there is nothing fancy in the log, just simple SQL commands. The site has been there for many months and there was no problem. I am just waiting for their support to reply to my email.
and with this you concluded that they are bad...? better optimize your script...how big is the db ? how much is your traffic ? if the cpu was maxed out due to your script, they have every right to pull it down...else other sites on the server would be compromised. get a vps.
Bassically i think your sql was taking too much load sometimes a database with only 5 queries can load the server becuase once i purchased some script with only 4 hits server crahsed due to sql that's why i think you should optimize your script. Saad
That's really no reason to put them down, all hosts have some sort of usage policy. Maybe it's your subject line?
You must consider the server it's not belong to you and there are many other users there. If other users take the cpu and your site don't work at all what would you say ? I think you are fault and take care with your script
i had a similar problem on a server once and it ended up being my fault even though i thought it was their problem. my sql was taking up too many resources causing the load to go up. i was on a shared server so too many people were complaining that their sites were going down. they kicked me off. i then researched the problem, fixed it, moved over to hostgator, now after 2 years i have had no problems at all.
All hosts will have usage limitations, HostGator can't be faulted for protecting their clients. Furthermore, it's irresponsable of you to degrade their service with a word like 'beware' over something that you are to blame for.
The script has no problem, if it had it wouldn't be working fine for months. What do you expect me guys to do? Lets say I was at holiday for 2 weeks and when come back notice that my site has been down for the whole time and the server admin hasn't tried to test it 2 minutes later. What if just by coincidence 100 people rush to my site at the same time and it happens only once in a year? Limitation is different from disabling the site. Hope this post answers you. I wonder how you find out I am to blame for. I am to blame for what? And how come the site is enabled now without me changing a single line? .
I don't think they would terminate your SQL DBs just after seeing the overload for one day. Perhaps they waited for it become "normal" for a while. Anyway, all shared hosting packages have usage policies, usually you're not supposed to use more than 10% of their CPU (that's the limit I've seen in many hosts). Perhaps they deleted yours since it "violated" their terms. Maybe it's time for you to upgrade to a VPS or perhaps even a dedicated server... Regards, Nithanth
If this was they case they would have given me a warning before. So either they suddently decided to disable my database or failed to send me a warning which in both case deserve the word "beware". - Note to PalSys-
Guess you're right; didn't think about it that way. Anyway, do you have a backup of the db that got deleted? Hope you do... good luck!
This time I have to approve of them. Fortunately they didn't delete it and after I contacted them restore it.
could be some issue with your codes, if u are using custom codes, test them in local servers and then run online, it happens at times probably due to bugs.
they are the worst host. You can find my topic about it some where. Suspended my account over a month ago because 5 people visted my site. yeah right They just emailed me yesterday expecting payment. I was like "wth? i havent used your crappy services in over a month and You guys already cancelled and deleted my account ove ra month ago upon my request" and they are talking about me having to pay again... yeah right.
You may want to consider getting a Virtual Private Server (VPS) or a dedicated server if you require more resources. You can get a nice VPS for $20-$30 per month. ~Michael
