A few months ago I hired somebody on Ebay to submit my website to 1600 directories. After just a couple of days they emailed me claiming the service was complete. They provided a report with a list of the directories they submitted to but I found it unusual that they were unable to provide me with the email address with the confirmations. In their description they said they would provide you with this. But when I asked for the login information they said that they made a mistake and sent everything to their main email address. When I didn't respond back they knew they go caught and issued me a full refund for $25. The guy begged me not to leave negative feedback and claimed that his service used to be legit. I didn't leave him negative out of kindness but I really should have. BUYER BEWARE!
I always get a kick out of these scams. There are very few directories that are worth the time and effort to be submitted to and certainly not 1600.
I LOLed! You should have left a negative feedback considering the fact that now someone else might get Scamed! And ya it is also the responsibility of the client to ask the right question before hiring such services. Just a few questions and you know what kind of service you will be getting!
I own niche directories and topsides that are spammed continually by unrelated sites that I never approve, yet still have to go through and remove. I wonder how much of this is from people paying others to post their links? It's a waste of their time and money, and my time. I have often seriously considered closing them down due to the vast amount of spamming.
I totally agree, you should have left a negative feedback so that someone else would see it and not get scammed.
Is it a joke to spend $25 for 1600 web directories submission? i can tell you it's not just a single case, almost all those kind of web directory submission services are absolutely suck.
I hardly use ebay for this kind of services (Only to buy physical goods). You can outsource it i freelancing market places like freelancer.com and Odesk.com. You can have great service there.
thanks to provide this information here ... but you had to put a comment or feedback regarding what happened with you so that other people know about it. you are just a customer and this is not kindness you did by hiding their work.
well, you get what you pay for. $25 for 1600 directory submission isn't reasonable any way therefore the service must be compromised. if they did anything, they might have blasted using some directory submission tool using their own profile and didn't even bother to create a new profile for you. takes 5 minutes to setup the tool and let it run on the background. no guarantee though as to how many actual submission you get from this type of service.
I agree with sultanofseo. /$25 for 1600/ This price is clearly shouting that this could either be an automated blast or SCAM.

For directories, I think it is best to go for quality over quantity. Who knows how many of those 1600 or whatever outrageous number are brand new sites that will be dead within a few months. Find a few that work for you and take the time to make quality submissions.
