If you have parked domain names that are not privacy protected then you may be a target for spammers. Privacy protection means that the whois contacts for your domain name will not be public, for that service you need to pay extra annual fees, and because of the extra cost many people (including me) don’t purchase extra privacy service when they register domain names. Besides the regular spam emails, I received an interesting spam email which looked innocent at first but later I realized that it is spam. The email is from a sender who shows interest on one of your domains and asks about how much you want for that domain name. When you reply to him with your asking price, he shows more interest and asks you if you have more good domain names for sale, you reply back to him with some more domain names that you own, and then he makes a big XX’XXX offer for all the domains that you have but before any agreement on the deal he asks for a trust worthy appraisal service to be sure of the deal. The spammer will say that he doesn’t trust auto-appraisal tools and he only trusts hand-made appraisals by experts, then he recommends 2 Expert Appraisal Services (that are not cheap) and says if the appraisal value you got is higher than his offer then the offer will be raised to match that appraisal value ! I don’t have to explain more, it is clear that both appraisal services belong to the spammer, and he is using a manipulative way to market his useless appraisal services.

Yes, this is the typical appraisal scammer who has no interest in buying your name, but only scamming $$$ from you for an appraisal.
