actually this is an old topic. when i was in college, my friends told me that the most suitable graphic card for design/multimedia purpose should be a NVidia's graphic card. and 'till now, i'm still use NVidia's graphic card for my PC desktop and notebook (dedicated VGA). but recently, there's some notebook manufacturer offer the ATI's graphic card for design/multimedia purpose. for i know, ATI's graphic card is most suitable for gaming purpose. so, i just wanna know y'all opinions about the graphic card that are most suitable for design/multimedia in PC/Notebook lately thx be4 ^^Y
Both the companies are good There are numerous models for both Nvidia and ATI and it all depends upon a model, some are specific to Gaming purpose and some are specific for Mutilmedia purpose Personally I m using Nvidia 9500 GT on my Desktop from past 2 years and it works both fine with gaming and multimedia stuff ( I have worked little on Maya) Plus its doesnt stutter a bit while I watch 1080p movies
I recommend you to go with nvidia graphics card as it is the leader in its niche. Never get carried away by the small price difference but evaluate the card on its performance.
Currently I would go Nvidia and its cuda cores, especially with Adobe product, but when it comes down to it any current graphics will suffice
What niche? How you define the leader? If you mean by the sheer number of people using their products then Intel is the leader. If you mean Fastest Graphics Card then again, no its not a leader..No one is.. For many months now, both nVidia and AMD are fighting shoulder to shoulder for having the crown of Fastest Graphic card in the world.. At any point Radeon is no less than GeForce and GeForce is no better than Radeon. You will most likely never use CUDA in your work, unless you want a super computer and use applications that utilizes parallel computing extensively. You will not use CUDA in gaming, you will never use CUDA in MAYA or MAx. Yes, you will use CUDA and benefit from it, if you are into DNA analysis. nVidia would love to make you thinking that CUDA is something you cant live without, but don't let company propaganda fool you. You will end up paying more for something you don't need. As for What is he best card for you, there is no "Best card", no "market leader", not anymore... There are different best performing cards in different price ranges, for different budgets.. You should always look for the best card for your need in your budget. If you want a general purpose card, you want to compare Radeon and GeForce. If you want a card for graphics workstation, you want to compare Quadro and FirePro.
I would recommend using an nvidea if you are using an intel rocessor, ati if an amd. less compatibility, driver issues.
If with design you mean Autodesk or 3dsmax programs, you should go with the professional line of nVidia (Quadro) or the Ati FireGL
I would recommend Ati FireGL, although it doesn't make a big difference from other lower video boards. And to be honest, it's price it's quite high.
Hi, In my opinion, I think ATI is better for design. In my experience, Nvidia keeps crashing the computer when I install the drivers for the card. Nook
This is utter rubbish, there is absolutely no issues with using either processor with either AMD (ATi) or Nvidia. As Webby said it's all to do with what sort of budget you have as both video card vendors offer good products at different price points.
